I know that you can't exactly tell what my chances are for getting into MIT, but does anybody want to give me any advice or tell me whether or not I'm on the right track?

What do you guys think? I can definitely get at least 3 very good recommendations from math and science (and computer science) teachers. I know that there are people that have gotten perfect GPAs and 2400s and 800s and 5s on everything and have been deferred so I'm aware that I can't be provided with any solid information. But how well am I doing?

Wow your schedule was like the exact same as mine up until senior year with exception that I took Honors Physica and AP U.S. History in reverse order so I took AP Physics juinor year. But other than that completley identicial. Also french was Latin for me, but still its a foreign language.

wen u say u went to antionals do u mean USAMO, because if so, thats a really big plus.

Don't worry about your GPA or test scores. They're so close to perfect that it won't make a difference. I'm willing to bet that the average accept actuallly has lower test scores/gpa than you do. If I had to guess, if you're denied for any reason, I'd say it would be for lack of awards.

But what do I know? I'm just another applicant.

^^I wouldn't worry about the non-perfect GPA. I would rather see an applicant with a multitude of A+'s and a few blemishes than a straight "A" student (although I'm not an adcomm.) I'm guessing you're not that into bio...

Also, I agree that USAMO is a big deal.

I like molecular biology and genetics, just not all of that organismal and ecological stuff. That being said, my honors biology teacher was generally considered the hardest teacher in the school and my SAT II had some inane questions on it. ;)

Thanks for the replies though. And I didn't go to USAMO, I went to some other thing I don't know the name of. I doubt it was as prestigious as what you're making USAMO out to be and I don't know if they're related in any way.

EDIT: Also, what is an adcomm?

Probably ARML or AIME? AIME and USAMO are different levels in the American Math Contest. So they're the next two steps.

That was it, AIME.

AIME's pretty prestigious. Only 8000 people qualified last year.

"EDIT: Also, what is an adcomm?"

someone on the admissions committee...

usamo is expanding... i hope they stop at 500.
i like your chances, though the exhaustive list of grades dazzled me for a few seconds.

You've listed scores for AP courses you're in senior year. Are you listing expected scores, or did you take the tests a year early?

"usamo is expanding... i hope they stop at 500."

It can't go much higher. Grading the USAMO takes too much work. And, I don't think the prestige of USAMO has dropped (there was a thread on AoPS about this) since the number of people preparing for AMC/AIME has definitely increased. I would say the top 500 math students in the US today is better than the students 5-10 years ago.

You'll be in luck at MIT, then. Just take 7.012 or 7.013 for your bio and stay away from 7.014.

I would say that yes, you are on the right track. Get good recs (actually good, not what some people think are good - admittedly this is less in your control) and don't screw up your essays and you'll certainly be competitive.
