90% of all of IU's students have a GPA of 3.0 or greater, 75% have a ACT score (or SAT equivalent) of 23 or above.

Having said that you have a chance if your 3.0 puts you in the top half of your high school class (98% of those at IU-Bloomington were in the top half of their high school class). I say this because your extracurricular activities are pretty good--and because 10% of those admitted are below the 3.0 GPA level. Also, the lower 25% of test scores are ACTs of 20-22--and you are at the top of this range.

It looks like you are a borderline admit--if your retake of that Chemistry class gets you up to at least a C (a B or better is preferable of course)--and if you are in the top half of your class.

Check out your class rank (it's on your transcript)--and hope for something like 140/300 or so, and hope it's not something like 170/300. Based on this number, you'll probably know your odds of acceptance.

Good luck.

P.S. If you are at 155/300, you may possibly still get in because your weighted GPA score could still put you in the top 50%--keep this in mind (and be sure to mention it in an appeal letter if you are waitlisted).

Not much to say as Calcruzer hit on the areas IU considers most important. FWIW--I agree with his assessment. The community service might make the "border" a bit closer to you.

I'm guessing that your high school not ranking will work in your favor.

Going just on the other stuff, you are in the "last 25%" group that gets in, if you follow my drift. (you are sufficiently within the middle of this 25% to be accepted);--and like rrah said, the ECs and in particular the great community service should work in your favor.
