In State
Unweighted GPA: 3.1
My school does not calculate weighed GPA's but I have taken my fair share of a few AP classes, Middle College Classes or advanced classes.

Community Service- 90 hours, 30 hours Sophomore, Junior and Senior year of coaching basketball.

Any opinions?

Have you applied yet? Are you a senior?

You seem OK, but it’s really late to apply, which could really hinder you. GPA’s not great, but they look at what classes you’ve taken too.

If you’ve listed your weighted GPA ( since we can’t see your transcript like universities) it may give a sense of the type of grades you’ve made with your AP classes. Your GPA is below their average unweighted… which may not be a help. Though it does not fall below a 3.0 and you have decent amount of volunteer hours that may help. I’m currently a junior and as applying to MSU next year I’m worried that I may not get accepted. My GPA is higher than yours as well ( yes I have AP etc…), so it really varies.

(Assuming you’re a senior)
I think you’re borderline. Harder classes will help, as will the community service. If you haven’t applied yet, do so very soon.

Since you’re in Michigan, you should have an ACT score too, can you tell us that?

I agree that you would be borderline. With a good recommendation, essay, and good 7th semester grades you might be in though…
