I applied ED 1 and now I’m just waiting for my letter to get here but I’m getting kind of anxious.
I’ve been in all honors/AP english classes my school offered.
5 years of English.
4 years H. Science.
3 Years of math, taken through calc.
3 Years of Art
3+ Years of Social Science.

I’m from Chicago.

Rank: 187/500
SAT: 670M/670CR/620Wr
ACT: 33
Good rec, good essay
GPA: 3.3
ECs:
Debate Team, Art Club, Dance.

Visited Campus.

I’m an Alums Kid.
I am also not applying for FA.

I know my grades weren’t fantastic, I went through my rebellious “I want to figure out school for myself” stage. At the moment I have straight A’s in mostly Honors Classes.

Honestly I don’t think you have a great chance based off of your class rank and GPA. It helps that your applying early decision though. Hopefully they’ll see that youve improved and are taking school more seriously. I hope you get admitted but make sure you have some back-up schools.

Forgot to mention I applied as a sociology major.
Dunno if that helps or not.

@Stonehill, I know, its my rank and GPA thats bringing me down! I’m really hoping they make an exception since I made it known in my interview that I regret those grades and have learned my lesson.

I have a very good feeling about your application - especially if you were able to interview & explain your lower grades. Please keep us all posted!

I’m gonna be really honest and say that your chances are not too high. It’s always possible that you could get in, but based off what you provided, your resume is not too impressive compared to the other applicants. Were you involved in community service or did you have a job? I hope your essay really shows a lot about you, because the numbers don’t. It also would have been nice if you could have gotten your SAT over 2000. Did you take any SAT 2s? ED and legacy will definitely help your chances. So in the end I think it could go either way for you, but I hope you get in since you love it so much. Best of luck!

Thanks.
I know my SAT scores are EHHHH but I never officially submitted them, I submitted my 33 ACT. The SAT just sort of showed up on my transcripts as an afterthought.

33 translates to about a 200 points higher then I scored, which would put me over 2000. Being in the midwest no one takes the SAT, I had to drive an hour to take it the one time I did.

My essay talked about my search for religion and my current involvement in the church, so fingers crossed.
Thanks for the honest answer and I’ll try to keep everyone posted!

AlixMRoz, where did you find that info? I’ve been looking for it forever. if the letters go out thursday do you think people on the east coast will get them saturday?

I googled it.
Came to a list on these forums.
Had a list of schools and when letters go out.
Bucknell’s ussually go out Dec. 10th unless they are behind.
I’m sure you’d get them friday or saturday.
I’ll probably be biting my nails into next week.

You still have a chance! The college looks greatly upon your decision to apply ED. When the admissions staff goes over your application again, they will see that you applied early which is a plus. I also applied to Bucknell but RD. What are my chances?

Why was I deferred?

I have a 4.0 and have taken every demanding course my high school offers…
(Class rank 11/326)

Junior Year-
AP Calc (A+, A)
AP US History(A, A+)
AP English (A, A)

Senior Year-
AP Chemistry (A+)
AP English (A)
Honors Physics (A+) and next semester I am switching into AP Physics (without taking the entire course…I want to show college admissions staff that I am looking to challenge myself)

I play Girls Varsity Lacrosse
I have received many Faculty Awards in Math and Science
I am in Interact Club, Student Council, Humanitarian Club, Debate Club, and in the Student Leadership Organization

I am not an excellent standardized test taker; however,
SATs-
630 Math
620 Writing (10 on my essay)
560 Critical Reading

ACTs-
31 Math
29 English
22 Reading
22 Science (24 the first time I took it)
(10 on my essay)

What do you think my chances for admission will be for RD?

*I was selected to be a teacher’s assistant in my Physics class.

In response to 0000001’s question if she had the credentials to get in I would have to say you have a pretty good chance of getting in based on those numbers. However, Bucknell takes a good look at the essays you wrote and make sure they aren’t your normal “I visited blah and learned blah” type of essay. Otherwise I would have to say your golden.
