So for the common APP short answer portion where it gives you the choice to choose the topic of your essay, I wrote an essay about my influential novel character. My finished essay is 360 words exactly. The form says 250 - 500 words. Is 360 really bad? Should I be aiming for the 500 words or 450 words margin? I'm kind of worried that my essay is too short. ALSO: for the EC common app essay, my essay is 942 characters without spaces. Is that fine or should i count it WITH the spaces? Thanks.

BUMP! please answer :(

They don’t care about the length, as long as you say what you need to say. If you can effectively say what you need in 360 wrods, why would you add extra meaningless words?

As for character length, they give you those guidelines to let you know how much will fit on the page. They’re not going to count the number of words or characters in your essays!
