My Condolences to Penn Community as Wharton Jr. Dies

My thoughts & condolences go out to the Penn community (families, students, faculty, etc) this morning, especially to his teammates and to all who may have known this bright young man.

"Wharton junior Owen Thomas was found dead at his off-campus residence around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, University spokeswoman Lori Doyle and Director of Athletic Communication Mike Mahoney confirmed. He was a member of the football team."

Owen Thomas was one of the best people I knew at Penn. We lost a tremendous individual yesterday… it really is a tragedy.

So very sad. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

Condolences from another campus that has been hurt by suicides. The best thing to do is to simply reach out to each other and enjoy each other’s company.

Was it a suicide? Whenever I hear about a large athlete suddenly dying I think enlarged heart or some sort of physical defect.
