My counselor is ignorant!

Don't you get to choose which ACT scores you want to appear on your transcript? My guidance counselor is telling me they're not allowed to remove any of the scores, which is absolute bs. That's not the school's decision to make is it? It's up to the student which scores they want on THEIR transcript. Right? I told her this and she said she'd check with the registrar. What can I do to prove to her that it's my decision and they have to do what I tell them to? What's the point of being able to send whichever scores you want if they all appear on your transcript anyway?

Go to the ACT's website and print off their page about score reports and show it your mentally deficient counselor.

lol yea, YOU have the final say over your counselor

but how do i prove that to her? she won't listen. it's so frustrating...

the way the "not listening" works in my school is you have your parents call in....i mean come on, THEY are the ones paying the taxes....most of the times, when parents get involved, the student gets what he/she wants....try it :)

I see you changed your title...lol.

yea i noticed too...."retarded!" to "ignorant!"

actually the mod changed it

^Hahaha wow

Actually High Schools should only be reporting your H.S. grades on your transcript. Outside scores, whether they be ACT or SAT should be ordered directly by the student from the Board to be sent to the colleges of their choosing.

Lots of HS transcipts show all scores on them - most students don't realize this since they never see them (at least at our HS, it's very difficult to get one). I didn't know when my DD applied several yrs ago. I found out when my son was applying.

what/who is a DD?

DD= Darling Daughter....many parents and students are not aware they have the legal right to see their high school transcript. I encourage parents to make an appt to review the whole student file. This will allow you to see what the GC is seeing when they sit down to write their letters of recommendation. You may find errors that need to be redressed. Someone told me about this, and I WAS REALLY glad I did...some things were included that should not have been there, and some things were missing. Be prepared to spend time in the counseling office-but well worth the effort!

so what should I tell my counselor?

No,you cannot decide which scores you want college to see. It all printed out on the hs transcript.

Well I'm not sure about your school, but my school gives us the option of leaving on the scores or taking them off. I'm not sure about picking and choosing though.

At our local hs, students can request SAT and ACT scores be taken off the transcript. Have your mom call.

Same here, GC said she would selectively copy the scores.

I think everyone is overlooking some important aspects.

In some places, you are required to send your ACT scores by the law, if you dont, your breaking the law. Some states dont care.

Which state do you reside in? Some midwest states require that the standarized state testing day for the ACT be sent no matter what along w/ the transcript, while in the coast states on both sides and some southern states, they dont require the ACT to be sent. So it all depends on the state.

And if you apply to a public college or university in Florida they get all of your scores automatically whether you or your high school send them or not.
