^You just described journalism, too. :)

Yes, I also like to write. I love writing stories and things like that. But i’m torn between that and creative writing. A friend told me that I don’t get to choose anything until my junior year, so I must have a lot of time…

The Hope Scholarship said I have to get a 3.0 average by the end of the year. Does this mean I still have a chance or is it still according to gamomof3’s calculations?

Well said, Smithieandproud!

You care about your future - that is a plus! Many discouraged students do not. Good luck!

You need to set up an account at gacollege411.org. It is linked to your school and it will tell you your current HOPE GPA. I think the only thing you need is your school ID number. If you school gives credit at the end of the semester, you will see an update after the Fall semester, sometime in January. If not you will have to wait until the end of the year. Once you see what your current HOPE GPA is, then you will be able to see for yourself if you can raise that to a 3.0. Please remember that they will not round the GPA so if you get a 2.99, then it will be a 2.99 and you will not get HOPE.

Also HOPE only uses your core academic courses to calculate the GPA so As in Electives does not matter.

I have one but it says that it can’t access my transcripts

You need to tell your guidance counselor. They should be able to help you figure out what is wrong with your gacollege411 account. It may be that your student number is not set up correctly. My D had that problem when she first tried to get in.
