My dream school is Barnard college and I was wondering how much of a chance I have?

My ACT super ore is 30, but I’m hoping to bring it up a few more points.
My weighted GPA is 4.0
Will have taken 6 AP classes when I’m done with high school
I’m a first generation college student
Have had a job for a year and a half
Have over 600 service hours
I was part of a state championship newspaper staff
Went on a mission trip to Peru last summer
Attended a people to people summit in New York City on media and communications (created a feminism blog that I have continued to keep updated)
Ran cross country for 4 years and lettered in it
A varsity boys soccer manager for 2 years at school
National Honor Society since my junior year
AP Scholar

I want to major in English or journalism. Maybe communications with a possible minor in political science. Does anyone have any idea if this is good enough for Barnard?

That ACT score is quite low. Bring it up to a 32-33 and I think you have some sort of a chance.

If you bring up your ACT to at LEAST a 31, you should be good.

Barnard places little emphasis on test scores (I sat in on an admission committee sesh). You’re a competitive applicant–be sure your essays stand out.

Do you think my extracurriculars (having over 600 service hours) are god and stand out enough?

Their average GPA begins at a 28. Stop scaring people with this 33 BS. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get in but your score is fine.

@milanobabe Actually, according to Barnard’s 2014-2015 CDS, the middle 50% ACT is 28-32. 25% of accepted applicants scored 28 or lower, and another 25% scored 32 or higher. 59% of all accepted students scored 30-36.
