<p>I chose Duke over SUNY Stony Brook, Boston U (honors), Northeastern (honors), Cornell, and Notre Dame. Definitely the best choice in terms of the school itself, and Duke gave me the most money as well.</p>

<p>You guys will find that most Dukies don't come on CC - except for a few. So you won't get that good a gauge of anything. I must add, though, there are a few very helpful posters on this forum for Duke students.</p>
<p>Maybe its Duke's location or something, but the students there don't spend too much time here. It hurts during those long winded Duke vs Stanford or Duke vs Penn threads.</p>
<p>dooders, all you clowns who chose duke over full rides at state schools are making the wrong decision. The best pre-med program is the one where you can get the highest GPA. Why not go to state school, get your 4.0, enjoy models and bottles, save cash for med school, and continue on to HMS?</p>

<p>Duke isn't that much worse than HMS for people to choose Duke over state schools.</p>
<p>A school such as Duke offers so many resources for a person to succeed later in life.. and also it's just the idea of living with people who are just as brilliant and motivated as you are for four years.. that's what a school such as Duke has to offer!</p>

<p>So it was down to Emory Brown and Duke as u mite predict. All with high academic standards; but it was just the beautiful campus and the more social feeling that made me choose DUKE! a part of me is still with Emory tho for some scary reason dunno y... i guess that happens to every1 tho.</p>
<p>UNC (Robertson) over Duke (BN). Hardest decision I ever made in my entire life. Wish I had chose duke.</p>

<p>UVa Rodman Honors Scholar over Duke, Cornell, W&M, NYU, UPenn, and Georgetown. ---simply because UVA's honors program is so much better..
--people are just foolish....in running after 'name' and 'prestige'-..name and prestige wont get you anywhere.. it might have a slight advantage but its the GPA and activities that matter- and UVA does have the name recognition..
-Granted that DUke is ranked higher (top 10)- but so is UVA- UVA is one of the top public schools and in top 25 national universities..
i just think that letting go of UVA INSTATE would be a bad idea. (if it was UVA OOS- than thats different )
By the way CoolaTroopa, UVA offers equal (if not better) resources and facilities as Duke so dont be misguided.. some state schools are bad, but not UVa.. - Virginia has the privilege of having 2 excellent public schools (UVA and william and mary but uva is clearly the better of the two)</p>

<p>Did you ever think for a minute that people attend because they actually like the school, and not just the name?</p>
<p>Err...many people who go to Duke got into UVA - its a really good school, and gives out Echols scholarships to try and get people to go to UVA over schools like Duke.</p>
<p>Sometimes it works. </p>
<p>Of course, I wouldn't go to UVA over any top 25 private, just my opinion. Also, I think William and Mary is all around better than UVA.</p>
