BUMP…please chance :)

i’ll chance back

I think your chances are really good…great test scores, good gpa (albeit class rank is not so great), great courseload. ECs are a little generic, probably the weakest part of your app, but if you have good recs/killer essays, i don’t see why you should get in! good luck!

P.S. chance back?..

BUMP…

how important is class rank?
i come from a very competitive hs…
does that put me at a disadvantage

Last year 98.9% of the students admitted were in the top 10% of their HS class.

That was up from i believe 95% the previous year. So being in the top decile is definitely helpful.

From the ED round people with your stats got denied, but people with 2100’s were accepted. Seems to be a lot of emphasis on essays.

Ill give you a 33.8% chance (twice the acceptance 16.9% rate for last years class) because your stats are better than the average applicant’s

You certainly have the requisite scores. It’s all up whether Penn needs someone like you and whether your essay is good. Good luck (your scores far exceed mine and I got in ed) .

i was aware that 98.9% of the students admitted were in the top 10% of their class

however, is that because they care a lot about class rank or because those that are in the top 10% are the most qualified?

…i guess what im asking is, does not being in the top 10% automatically disqualify you?

its hard to be optimistic when only 1.2% of admitted students are like me

I wouldn’t necessarily put you in that 1.2%. I would put you in a different pool with all the other applicants who attended schools which dont report class rank. Its my understanding that 98.9% of those who reported their class rank were in the top 10%.
