My first semester is over!

...and I had a great time!

I'm really bored on winter break right now, so I figured I'd check back on College Confidential. A few freshmen answered questions I had last year as I was applying, and it was really helpful. I thought maybe if my help was needed I would offer.

About me: I'm a freshman (but graduating in 3 years) majoring in Film Production with a minor in Political Science. I got the $18,000 scholarship to Chapman as well as work study, which I am doing in the Goldroom, the place in Dodge where film equipment is rented out. I've worked on sets this semester and met lots of media majors like myself.

I DO NOT live on campus, so it will be hard to answer any technical questions about room and board, but I am on campus a lot and participate in campus life, and most of my friends live in the dorms. So if you just need a general idea, I could maybe help, or ask someone I know :)

Fire away!

What were your stats (SAT, GPA etc) to get the 18k sholarship?

My SAT was 2130 and my GPA was about 3.4.
AS for extracurrics, I didn’t have many, the only relevant one being my work on our school’s tv network junior year.
Above average essays and recommendations.
I was actually really disappointed I didn’t get the 21k scholarship, but such is life.

Can you talk a little bit about financial aid? Were you offered any department scholarships from Dodge? I applied for creative producing, and was told by one person from Dodge, that the only thing I need to do to be considered for one is to apply. Another from the Admissions Dept. told me to contact Dodge directly to inquire about them.

Also, it’s funny because I am interesting in minoring in Poli Sci (or Public Relations)…how do you like it?>
