Revelle 2014 here. My friend is also going to UCSD and I just found out he took the exam today? I got an email about the math placement exam (still no email for english) saying that I have to take it if I don't get a 3 on the AP Calc exam (which I took May 5th).

So when do I take the placement exam? I'm 50/50 on whether I got a 3 on the BC exam, so I'm a bit iffy.

You should have gotten a letter in the mail saying you have to take the AWPE (English) exam and signing up for it weeks ago because May 8 is the state-wide AWPE testing date. If you didn’t get a letter in the mail, then you might have met the qualifications already (like you took AP English/Lit already and passed it with either 3, 4 or 5) or somehow the letter got lost. I would call the office if I were you if you know you haven’t satisfied the requirement for it yet.

As for the Math placement test, the dates for it should be in the email you received.

I took the AP Lan Comp test already and got a 4, so relief there. The email says that you should wait for your AP Calc results and if you didn’t pass then you have to take the exam in July/August. Thanks for the response.

Seeing as UCSD never got my junior year AP scores (not the official ones anyways), how do they know I passed the AP Lang? Are they just taking my word on it or are AP tests from junior year apart of that whole package you have to send in by July 15th?

GracedPresence, I was wondering about that too! I also passed my AP Language test last year, but I have not sent in my AP scores to UCSD and have not received a mail letter about the English Placement Exam. I think UCSD is taking your word on it… Did you list your AP scores on your UC admissions application? I think that is what UCSD is looking at because you can’t lie about passing an AP test or not. I’m still not so sure though…

they are basing whether you need the eng placement exam on what you said on your uc application, theyre just trusting you right now.

but according to tritonlink, im pretty sure it says something about being confirmed to have passed/be exempted from the eng placement exam three weeks after enrollment or something. so byt then your scores will be in and verified.
