my friend tore up my application and ate it.....WTH!?

well, he really did. i got an application from a school in the mail and he tore it up and ate a piece of it...

but the real question here is:

one of my supplemental essays is 60 words over the 500 words limit.

does 60 words matter? ive already cut it down by sooo much!

Is your essay good? Do you really need everyword? If its perfect and effective and cannot, under ANY circumstances, go lower, then yes its okay.

And, wth at ur friend too, lol

The word restrictions are more guidelines than actual limits, intended to prevent you from sending a novel or a haiku - as long as you're within 100 words, you're fine.

Going over some does not matter. However, there is a truism that many admissions personnel know after years of experience: Those applicants who firmly believe that they cannot possibly find any more fat in their essay that can be eliminated are greatly mistaken.

Cut out the part about your friend eating your application.

good. now your friend has anthrax.
