Ok so let me start of by saying that im sooo scared. I came to us with no english in 6 grade. I took 3 years of esol therefore i couldnt really take any credits to highschool.
In highschool, because of my lack of knowledge i took all regular classes as my counselor suggested.
Iobviously passed them with super high A’s
Now i am a sophmore, i took 3 honors this year which are
Spanish2 H
Physics H
Literature H
Im really stressed because i have no aps in my transcript. Do you think if for next two years i take 3 aps each year so a total of 6 aps would be enough to get me to georgia tech.
Oh an ofcourse im an A student so considering that remain the same will i have shot.
I also am going to join the soccer, fbla, and beta club to help my resume also because im interested in those.
For next year im planing to take atleast
Ap chem
Ap computerscience (which is the major i want to go to ga tech for)
And some other ap
Plz help will i make it
Relax. You are doing fine. 6 APs should be sufficient, particularly if you have very good grades.
Have some fun in high school. Score some goals in soccer (unless you are defense or goalie, the latter being my favorite position back when I was young). Keep ahead in your classes and you will do well.
You are doing fine. Are you in Georgia? If not, do you have good in-state options for Computer Science? Go meet with your guidance counselor, and get some help with planning for your future.
OK, take a breath. Did you know some high schools won’t even let their students take APs until junior year? It’s very normal. Many students at great colleges will have taken 6 or fewer APs.
Make sure that you are doing ECs that you enjoy, not just because you think it will look good to colleges.
What state do you live in?
Having 6 Ap’s starting junior year is fine.
If you really want to “beef up” your record, you can take a community college class over the summer. Since you’re interested in STEM, you could take a science class.
My recommendation would be AP Chemistry, AP English Language, AP CS Principles + US History Honors, Spanish 3H, Precalculus Honors (over the summer: Discrete Math at the CC); and senior year, AP Physics 1, AP CS A, AP Calculus BC (or AB) + an honors history/economics/gov class + Honors English + one more class.
Yes im in georgia, will that make it better? Or worse?
Im just scared that i wont be able to handle 3 aps at a time i dontknow what they are like the though just scares me unless i take an ap over the sumer or somthInf
Talk with the AP teachers at your school about their classes. They will be able to look at your school record so far, and will be able to advise you. They know which students in your school have been successful in AP classes, and which haven’t, and they will be able to help you figure out what your best options are.
