so there's obviously a lot of rumors popping up on this board about when decisions will be received and the way we will get them. i had my GC call today because she is just as tired of waiting as i am.

ND said that the letters are going to be mailed out either today (friday) or tomorrow (saturday). no letters have even been sent yet. there will be no notification via email, neither will any schools be called by ND. students are the only ones who will receive their decisions and it will come via snail mail. hopefully this helps you guys out, i'm guessing we gotta wait until tuesday or wednesday now.

I think that is right. I knew that didn't sound right about the emailing decisions, so I am glad to hear that! Trust me, I think it is for the best! I got my decision for a few colleges online and overall I just didn't like it as well.

I might be wrong, but as of now it looks like ONLY INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS know about their admissions status. The rest of us will not hear until, earliest, Monday next week.

considering when the letters were "supposedly" mailed that would seem to be a safe assumption, unless you have some kind of teleporter, or else the ability to bribe the US postal service....relax...enjoy the weekend, you'll have an answer soon enough.

Now if anyone knows otherwise, I will of course defer to their knowledge

Come to think of it, with all the overreacting and worked up threads on this board. Has the climate of college admissions changed from a few years ago. I remember none of my friends being as worked up or as emotionally worried about their admissions prospects. I recognize most people on this board are "die-hard" ND fans...but still....

umm. you guys. i just got my acceptance package today.. and also a notification in my e-mail box.. but i think thats because im international.. im from canada..

lol, nemo you musn't have been on the boards when I applied! I was probably more freaked out than anyone here (docmom was around, she would know). The level doesn't surprise me, what surprises me is the number of people who are the way that I was.... I like that though.

I called the admissions office. The letters were sent out today. I will be out of town all week, starting tomorrow, but my admissions counselor said that it is possible to call after April 4 to receive a decision via phone. Someone in the admissions office told me today, however, that they do not give decisions over the phone. I don't know--we'll see.

If they were truly sent today, I kind of doubt we'll hear tomorrow in Ohio. It's still a possibility, but most likely not until Monday. So many dates for arrival have already been speculated that it's hard to know what to believe at this point. Anyways, just have your parents get the mail tomorrow and tell them to give you something only if it is large and looks promising; otherwise they can give you the news on Sunday. Don't let this ruin prom! :)

Someone in Ohio got theres this morning and the postmark was March 30, Thursday not Friday. So much for "calling admissions" and getting the straight scoop, even if your GC was the one who called.

You know before you cast aspersions on someone else I would remind you of the adage think before you speak. The statistic that letters would be mailed on Friday was mentioned in the on-campus newspaper at the beginning of this week. Also ND has its own branch of the US postal service on-campus. Some of the letters could have been delivered there on Thurs and/or processed by the postal service on that day. Since all those letters are sent out via metered mail (not stamped unless I am really mistaken) it probably takes a little time to get them all processed. Nothing to say they weren't put into the mail system on Friday morning. Then again ND could have said Friday to cover themselves and tried to move a little faster. The point is I don't work for the USPS and neither do you, and while neither of us knows for sure....perhaps there is another explanation...

I see your point but I would say that is because admissions is separate from financial aid so they have to let financial aid know who was accepted and then they send out the materials to those individuals.
