My high school doesn't have any math/ science competitions!

My high school is tiny, and it doesn't have any math/ science competitions. No math/ science olympiad, even. We are poor and untalented. However, I NEED to be is some of these competitions in order to apply to prestigious schools and summer programs, and I think I can do well in them.

Any big competitions that are for individuals? Perhaps online? How can I overcome this small-high-school dilemma?

Thank you.

Simply participating in such competitions such as the AMC and USNCO does not help you unless you do well enough to advance in the competitions. And no, you don’t ‘need’ to be in such competitions to apply to prestigious schools and summer programs, but to answer your question:

For some math/science competitions (like the AMC and USNCO and even for physics and bio) and you can travel to other high schools and take them, if that high school allows and you’re willing to pay for traveling and taking the exam.

The majority of schools (especially smaller ones) don’t really have any kind of math/science competition, so you aren’t alone by any means. I have no idea where you got the idea that you “need” to be in one of those competitions to apply to prestigious schools …

you can also sign up for your state’s math league
