Question!

How important is GPA in college admissions? I have a 96 average, about a 4.0. I'm also 3rd in my class of 136 students. However, my school does not get very good results for SAT scores, I current have a (690 M, 650 CR, 630 W), total of 1970... The highest in the school is currently 2010. My school only offers 6 AP's and we don't get kids into Ivy League Schools, maybe once every decade if that.

So my question is... I obviously have a high GPA, must how much will colleges value that, when they see my school isn't very challenging/demanding? Our valedictorian has a 99.5 average. Sooo, ya know.

Oh, I should mention that the GPAs are all weighted. 6 points for AP, 4 for honors, 2 for CP...

Sooo... as for chances... I have plenty of extracurriculars, no leadership, however. I have won awards for volunteer work and get plenty of volunteer hours. I also am a Questbridge Scholarship finalist, and won the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. I also received the Clarkson University Book Award.

For interest, I'm a white male. Middle class family, no legacies. I'm also gay. And Republican... interesting enough for college admission... lol.

But anyway here's my schools... could ya chance 'em for me??:
