My (international) SAT Study Plan

<p>Hi there!
I just wanted to share my SAT Study Guide for the upcoming month.
I am definitely aiming for a 2350+. A high goal but I have plenty of time to prepare!
Does anybody has any suggestions in regard of my schedule?</p>

<p>SAT Schedule</p>

<p>Reading and Vocabulary</p>

<p>a) Majortests.com & Freerice.com
b) Direct Hits Volume 1 & Volume 2
c) Sparknotes 1000
d) Barron's 3500
e) Barron's 5000 (just scan)
f) Read Time Magazine (Time.com) and NYTimes and put lists together of all non-familiar words
g) Read CR Questions of the 10 RS and also compile lists of non-familiar vocabulary words
h) Reading the following novels:
- 1984 – George Orwell
- Brave New World – Aldous Huxley (done)
- The Scarlet Letter – Nathaniel Hawthorne
- Of Mice and Men – John Steinbeck
- The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald
- One Hundred Years of Solitude – Gabriel Garcia Marquez</p>

<p>Writing</p>

<p>a) Follow AcademicHacker's approach for the essay:
- Collect 25 examples and memorize them
- Write timed sample essays
b) Go through the collected essay promts
c) Review sample SAT 12 essays
d) Study Silverturtle's Grammar Guide</p>

<p>Math</p>

<p>a) Memorize some “special” approaches</p>

<p>General</p>

<p>a) Question of the Day + archive
b) Insight Skills
c) All 24 Practice Tests (write down new approaches, rules etc.)</p>

<p>As you can see, I am an international student.
I am really confident about the Math section but
my CR is just embarrassing…
Writing improved a lot since my last try. </p>

<p>So I think, my weakness in CR is mainly caused by
my lack of vocabulary. No even really sophisticated
vocabulary words but maybe level 1-3 words.
It is really difficult for me to understand the passages
in the short amount of time.
In Writing, I mostly have trouble with expressions I am
not familiar with. E.g. before I started preparing for
the SAT I had never heard the expression “long since”.
If you do not know it, as a foreigner, it “sounds” totally strange.
There are also the idioms.</p>
