My Junior Year Schedule

Hey Guys! So I’m a current sophomore, and I am planning out my schedule for next year. Here’s what I got:
AP Lang
AP Gov
AP Chem
Honors Pre Calc
Honors Spanish 3
Honors Physics
Honors programming 2*
*I have an option to switch programming for AP Stats, which will give me the 4th AP. However, I have a passion for programming, I have been in the class this year, and hope to continue until senior year. Also I am in the club and stuff, so colleges will see that this is my passion. Therefore, I don’t think it would make sense to drop it for an AP that I don’t really care for. Also, I LOVE programming, So what do you think, should i drop it for AP stats?

Also, can you tell me if my schedule is something that a school like Yale or MIT would consider very challenging. Please keep in mind that although I only have 3 AP classes, this is pretty much all that is offered to me besides stats. Also my school has alot of pre-requisites that you have to take before you can go to the AP class for a subject like taking high school physics before AP physics .for the rest of the classes, they are all at the highest level that i could possibly take them.

There are juniors in my school who have like 5-6 AP classes, but that is because they were offered to start 3 high school classes in junior high. My middle school only offered me 1. So they are a year ahead in other subjects, that’s how they got a lot of pre-requisites out the way earlier and can take more AP classes. Would colleges compare me to them? That wouldn’t be fair. I did not have the same opportunities as them in junior high.

I think that if you really would like to pursue programming or simply have a passion in the subject, you should definitely keep that in instead of another AP class. From my knowledge, colleges would rather see you do well in something that you are truly passionate for rather than take 9001 AP classes that you aren’t too fond of. Since I am looking to apply to prestigious schools like Yale or MIT for my senior year (next fall, yay xD), I find this schedule to be fine. Although colleges would like to see a balanced amount of rigorous courses, taking lots of APs and Honors courses doesn’t necessarily “guarantee” an acceptance or consideration into a school like that. After all, you don’t want to kill yourself with work junior year! It would be better to get straight A’s in all your classes next year than to have all of your grades screwed up from the addition of another AP class.
However, if you believe that you can handle it, go for it! To be honest, my first semester of junior year was really hectic since I took a night class on observational astronomy at my local college, which is why I probably had really sucky grades during that time period. But, since we’re different people, if you would like to challenge yourself, go ahead and take that AP class if you really want to. Good luck!
P.S.: I took AP Chemistry, so if you have any questions about that feel free to ask me

Thank you so much. I am going to keep my schedule exactly how it is!
