I’m a current sophomore planning to major in computer science or engineering with a minor in business. My dream schools are U of I and schools with the likes of CMU, JHU, Georgia Tech, etc.
AP Chinese
AP Physics 1 and 2
AP Language and Composition
AP Computer Science A
Pre-Calc Honors
Regular World History
just take the hardest classes that your school has to offer for competitive college admissions we can’t judge you objectively b/c every school is super different. At my school, we can’t take AP history or AP english or AP sciences until junior year…but in terms of math, being on pre-calc as a junior is the lowest math level possible. It really varies. Just challenge yourself according to your peers and you will be fine!
@LushLillies That’s really interesting. At my school, freshman can choose between APHUG and WHAP for their AP history course. Sophomores can take AP computer science classes if they have the prerequisites, AP Euro, and AP Bio (if they did phenomenally in Biology honors). Math is the highest math level possible as a junior, unless you’re incredibly smart and skip grades in math.
5Ap’s in a year + honors precalculus would make for a really tough schedule. Since you can’t split AP physics 1 from AP physics 2, the only AP that’s an elective is AP CS. If you already know programming and Java you’re good but if not I’d save it for senior year when you can choose 2-3 other APs (assuming AP calc and others of your choice.)
Is there an Honors history class you can take? Someone striving to take that many APs and get into a top school should at least be taking Honors level classes when available. Also is Chinese a second language at home? It’s not as impressive to take an AP language course that you already speak at home.
^ while true, it’s too late for op to do anything about it, and there’s a huge gap between writing-reading and speaking at home if there’s been no Chinese school.
@MYOS1634 I’m only taking 4 APs, not 5. I have experience with programming in Javascript because I am in AP Computer Science Principles right now, and my friends who are in APSCA have told me that it’s not a difficult class, and there often isn’t homework.
@123Mom456 Unfortunately, there is no honors US history class. I would’ve chosen to taken it if there was one. Chinese is not really a second language at home; I only speak it with my grandparents, and my Chinese is pretty broken and incoherent, so I actually do learn Chinese from my current Chinese class.

Closing thread. The OP has asked a variation of this question at least twice already. Asking again, in addition to being against ToS, will not result in different answers.
