My Last Chance Thread of All (oh man, this is bittersweet)

UW gpa:3.7 ish<br>
UC (10th and 11th) unweighted: 3.8
took maximum number of honors and ap courses. Weighted gpa: 4.25
according to our school's system.
ranked 47/742</p>

300 hours in a local hospital's ER</p>

(a great accomplishment for me because I came to US in 2001)</p>

<p>Tae Kwon Do for 2 years. Even though I started in my freshman year, I broke my foot and couldn't do it for a year. But now I am lead the kids through daily exercises.</p>

<p>JV golf 10</p>

<p>Viking Pride Award - awarded to students with the most impressive improvement. (need teacher nomination) I'm so proud of this because I have tried so hard last two years. And about 30 kids from the whole school get it annually.</p>

I helped a girl in a remedial math class move up to a regular one.
Also helped a girl in a regular math class move up to an acclerated one. lol
tutured a kid from Korea by talking to him on the phone every week.</p>

<p>GPA and rank are a bit mediocre for the top schools. Your standardized testing scores are pretty good and you are involved in a wide range of ECs, but I don't see any leadership positions in those ECs. I would say you've got a decent shot, but those top schools like Stanford and Cornell are still a far reach.</p>

<p>His rank is NOT mediocre. Do the math: He's in the top ~6%. </p>

<p>And his weighted GPA is 4.25. That's not too shabby!!</p>

<p>I agree that Stanford is a long shot, but it is for everybody. Except for the UC schools, I think you've got a reasonable shot at the rest. I believe that getting into a UC school from out of state is pretty close to impossible.</p>

<p>I'm sorry but a 3.7 UW is kind of mediocre. And ~6% of a class of ~750 is really not that impressive. Sure his Weighted is high but the UW brings him down.</p>

However, I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't get into any of the top schools.</p>
