Cornell has been my dream school since I was a junior in HS. I'm a sophomore at UVa now. Getting solid grades. 3.8 now- probably be a 3.6 after this semester's grades. Mechanical Engineering.

I'm doing research here. It's pretty cool stuff, but I know Cornell has more to offer.
I started the car club here. I'm involved in other EC's, but the main point of this thread is to ask whether or not my stats will hold me back, mainly my SAT IIs

SAT: 2130 - 730M, 610E, 790W
Graduated 1 of 308
Junior at UVa~3.6GPA by the time I apply
SAT II's: 580phys, 720Math 2, 650 german w/listening

PS: when I applied as a freshman, I got the dreaded waitlist.

Your scores are rather low for engineering. I think Cornell might be more interested in how you’re doing in your engineering classes at UVa right now. Also, getting in as a transfer is a tad bit easier I think than normal admissions. If you got waitlisted the first time around, there’s no reason to not try again, especially if your freshman year grades are good.

p.s: I’d be applying as a junior.

I thought the rule of thumb was transfer admissions % = half freshman admission %?
E.g. at a college that accepts 10% freshmen, they will accept approx 5% transfers?

Automobile, you should state your ethnicity, whether you are applying for fin aid, the quality of recs, essays.
By the way, a lot of people are yearning for a place at UVa, you know that right?

I’m a whitey. Essays will be good. I’m a good writer (see SAT writing). Recs… not too sure about those. That’s a work in progress.

I’m from Kansas. Applying for fin. aid.

Right now I’m at a 3.8. Looks like I’ll nab a few B’s this semester though, so it’ll drop a bit.

HS: 4.2 gpa. 8 AP classes.

Yes, there are people who’d give an arm and a leg to go to UVa, but it seems I’d be more fit for a larger engineering school (ours is miniature- no FSAE team for example).
