My LSU Experience

To the incoming students or perspective students considering coming to LSU in the near future, I'm excited for the new chapter you're soon to experience. This upcoming fall I will be a Junior majoring in Finance and have to say that these past two years have been nothing but amazing.

My Back story - I'm originally from Rogers, Arkansas and considered numerous schools when deciding what college I hoped to attend. I applied to LSU, Auburn, SMU, Alabama, UGA, and Baylor. Thankfully I was accepted to all and received scholarships from several. I personally found it extremely stressful in deciding what college to choose. In the back of my head was always the "what if" when weighting the pros/cons of each school. I don't want to go into too much detail and berate the other wonderful universities but I truthfully fell in love with LSU and decided it was an experience I couldn't live without.

The gorgeous campus, the national brand it has established, its commitment to success, and strives to become a world class university were all valid reasons I chose LSU (Football was a reason too haha). LSU just opened their new business complex, E.J Ourso College of Business, the new chemistry labs, Choppin Hall Annex, and LSU is about to break ground for the renovations/additions to the Engineering College, Patrick F. Taylor Hall in the next year. Rankings are continuing to rise and will continue to do such as the LSU System continues to be restructured to become more efficient and become an "unified LSU" -Similar to THE Ohio State.(Previously each campus was LSU-BR, LSU-S, LSU-A, LSU-E).

The culture of Louisiana cannot be matched either. Nothing beats a "Saturday Night in Death Valley", the Louisiana cuisine, and Mardi Gras/St. Patrick's Day come spring.

My pride and love for this great university is unending. I recommend you guys to become involved and meet as many people as you can. I joined a fraternity and am involved in Student Government as well. My advice - college isn't all about going straight to/from class and studying day/night to make all A's. That is definitely great and all but remember it's just as important on how you market yourself and the networks you create. LSU alumni, professors, staff, and your future classmates will help you succeed in the future, let them help you! LSU has huge alumni support and the older I get, the more I realize it.

It's going to be a wonderful fall, we will have a great football team this year and I can't look forward to seeing all the new guys on campus. LSU has created a brand that everyone in the United States knows. Citizens all across the nation have heard of LSU. This will help you in the long-run and YOU will see first hand how much value a LSU degree holds. Good luck, have fun, and Geaux Tigers!
