My math score went down 50 points! Oops...

Hey guys! I'm overall pretty happy with my SAT results, but my October SAT math score is really bugging me (honestly, not that there's much I can do about it this late in the game).

My scores:
January: 770 CR, 740 M, 710 W
October: 800 CR, 690 M, 800 W

I also took Bio M (800) and Math II (770). I'm taking Chem in November.

I applied ED to a highly selective school (overall acceptance rate last year was < 13%).

Will the big drop in math hurt me? I know I can't do anything about it, I just would like to know what to expect/what other people think. Thanks, you guys!

can’t you super score them?

^ I’ve got the same question. Because if you can’t, that’ll suck balls.

I know the school looks at my best scores…but won’t they still see the 690? Even if they claim to superscore, I know the score is still included in my application.
Do you guys think the 690 could make the difference between an acceptance and a rejection?

Unless you tell us which college you applied to, we can’t really tell whether your scores will severely hurt your chances. Anyway, regardless of what college it is, I don’t think the drop in math will be a deal-breaker. Also, if the college you applied to super-scores, then your super-score 2340, which is excellent for just about any college (and, even if they don’t, you got 2290 on your second sitting, which is also very good).

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Your scores are definitely great, even for very competitive colleges, and there’s nothing you can do about it at this stage anyway.

I applied ED Amherst  I know at this stage, there’s nothing I can do. I guess I wish I could know what to expect…I hope they don’t get the idea that I slacked off or something!

I’m sure they won’t get that idea. They’ll probably get the impression that you focused more on improving your reading and writing, and neglected the math a bit, which is understandable. Your scores are a fair bit above average for Amherst (according to [College Search - Amherst College - SAT®, AP®, CLEP®](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)), so it really won’t be an issue.

the same thing kind of happened to me my math went done from 1 790 to a 700, CR went from a 710 to 720, writing went down from an 800 to a 760. should i boter sending

If all your scores went down except for CR (which only went up 10 points), then I wouldn’t recommend sending.
