<p>I can understand come March and college bball time....but college football? I mean, I DO like the tight pants and tailgating, but thats just me being a girl.</p>
<p>My school used to have 93-100 as As and below that was B. But we never used letter grades anywhere so it never really mattered anyway. But they changed it, just because.</p>
<p>What's better than watching a bunch of overweight tightly clad men hitting each other? Football is fun to watch for every reason. Especially fun cause I get to watch USC (Oregon's only loss [our quarter back is injured, that's only reason we lossed to Oklahoma]) kick the crap out of a bunch of Texas boys and show yet again why the pac-10 is THE most competitive conference in the country and has THE best teams in the nation. Take that Easterners!!! (<em>shakes fist with one finger in an easterly direction</em>)</p>
<p>ok ive been through both public and private insitutions. if you wanna count k-8 as going through a public then ive been to both.</p>
<p>my observations:</p>
<p>Public school:
if youre smart, you generally will be in a class with the same kids, through out your whole school experience. i had the same 30 kids or so in my class every year...very boring. class size is much bigger than private institutions. It it much harder to obtain a high UW GPA in public schools though. i rarely ever got As. they were 93-100 A..and a 7pt scale. Much more strict...in a sense that you need hall passes and everything and punishments are generally worse for certain things than private schools...well it depends on the private school. drug and alcohol scene is more obvious in a public school system. not saying it doesnt happen in private...cause it does..just more on the down low. the rate of students going to a college upon graduation...is lower than a private school. public schools generally rank all the time...and honestly..i think ranking is the worst thing a school can do. oh and Coed is much sweeter. wake up a lot earlier but go home earlier. oh and you go to school much longer than a private school. our public schools go to school 180 days. and you dont get to know everyone in your class yet alone barely anyone in classes lower than you.</p>
<p>private school:
grading is more inflated and much easier....we have a 10pt grading system. class sizes much smaller mine range from 8-20 with 20 being really large for a class and rare, but youll have a different variety of people in your class even if youre smart. less strict....ive gotten away with a ton of stuff....youre not really punished that much for anything...and attendance is rarely taken after homeroom...we even get a 20 min break in the day. you usually know when you can skip classes if you dont feel like going and no one asks questions if you roam the halls. our rate of going to college upon graduation is 100%. our school doesnt rank...a major plus for me. single-sex school...has its plusses and minuses..but cant wait for coed again. go to school roughly 140 days. wake up hour later....go to school maybe 40 min longer. youll know almost everyone in most grades.</p>
<p>conclusion: both have their ups and downs. personally for me, i think going to a private school was better for me, in that it was real easy, if youre smart and you go to a public school...it can be harder than a private school...it all depends. oh i forgot to mention...private schools generally cover more material and move faster than private schools...i know that for a fact..ill talk to my friends in public highschools...and one was 8 chapters behind us in AP Stat. and that goes for most classes but usually not that many chapters.</p>
<p>haha... yeah... it's a lie that a B+ at a private school is an A in a public school. You have no idea till you've been in both situations. private gradeschool for me,... public high school now... every year I work harder than I've ever worked before.
So, that's why they look at a combo of everything when they evaluate your app... I bet they like it when ppl from the same school apply so they can better compare how you are doing.</p>
