My own export company hook?

i'll tell you my story briefly.. i'm from buenos aires, argentina and i'm planning to apply to top colleges for 2008. I live in Argentina but my family is actually from Bolivia (and I have friends there too)
So well, one day I started to buy good quality but cheap cloths in Argentina ( in outlets) and exporting them to Bolivia and then selling them in stores. I have made some money in this project. Would you consider it a hook? I'll write my essay about this and my passion for economics and business
Thanks!!

great ec, not defined as a hook

IT depends how much you make.

What exactly is defined as a “hook.” Please enlighten me.

nobody else? cm’on guys give me your views

a hook is usually something innate and can’t be accomplished by hardwork (however, there are exceptions). a few examples of hooks:

under-represented minority status (black, hispanic, and especially native american)

legacy status

first person in your family to go to college, not including siblings (this is more of a draw)

developmental candidate (parents capable of donating $$$$$$)

child of a celebrity or well-known politician

or some that one can ‘accomplish’…

VERY well known summer programs such as TASP, RSI

IMO gold, Seimens, other very prestigious math/sci awards.

professional actor

keep in mind that ‘hooks’ vary in degree and certainly do not guarantee acceptance. When you say some money, you are implying that you have made well some money. If you haven’t started a company about to go public or doing a few hundred thousand $'s in sales, then don’t bother. It’s just an EC
