My physics teacher is a jerk.

I was getting 94.3 in IB physics 11 after a bad quiz. Then we had a test which I studied for and took seriously for once in order to raise my mark..i ended up getting 46.5/46 on it! w00t! But that's not the point.. My teacher's website has a feature that says "check your grade" where you can log on and see what your mark is. I log on and see....97.3! I think "hmm, ok, I think i should be getting higher"

Now there's another feature on the site that's called "calculate your grade," where you can submit all your marks (which are shown in the "check your grade") and it spits out the final percentage. I did it, just to check, and it gave me 97.6! 0.6!! that's 0.3% higher than the mark my teacher is giving me!!! On a report card, that's the difference between a 97 and a 98...grrrrr. WTF do i do? Why must he be so mean, and strip me of 0.3%? Jerk. I'm going to talk to him on monday...wish me luck!

Wow.. chill out. You got an A+.

Personally I think you're the jerk in this case. Chill out-- it's still an A or an A+ on some scales. Relax, maybe you have the wrong score for something!

nope, i checked it three times, and even my mom did all the calculations once

talk to the guy and see if he - or you - made a mistake and missed it. This sort of stuff happens to me all the time.

woah..buddy..chill.

my thoughts exactly.

What exactly is the difference between a 97 and a 98? Besides 1 percent, obviously.

lol. maybe it's the principle s/he fighting for - not the grade.

What principle? Where on the teacher's side is the teacher being a jerk?

Everyone makes mistakes...he probablly just made a small error. I doubt he gave you a lower grade than you earned on purpose. Just ask him about it nicely.

ainokea and neither should you.

what principle? I'm not sure. It was just a suggestion.

what about the principle of getting a life or breathing some fresh air

dont u have the rest of the semester to raise that grade?

No, it's not the principal.. a 98% looks much, much nicer and "smoother" on the report card than an ugly 97..

As for the rest of the semester...the term ends in 3 weeks. And he said the only other mark we're going to get is a single quiz..which won't do much..

Chill out. Talk to him after the weekend.

Odd numbers > Even numbers

Wow. Congratulations; it must give you a fuzzy feeling to know that 1 point on your transcript really matters that much to you. And you're not even in pre-Med...gotta love it.

^ 1 point is a lot. When calculating my average, 1 point means the difference between 0.125 of a percent. Those 1 points add up. A point here, a point there, and soon my average raises by .5 percent! and when that happens, on the report card (on which numbers are rounded) I will obtain an increase of 1% for my average. So yea. it matters.

Honestly, is it that important?
