help please. I worry my son very much.
He eats little and lose weight a lot.
What college do I wait him to know so I can give money
and things to make him happy again?

please i want know what to see for my son of future

your son has a great future ahead of him. His sat scores are terrific...and so is his GPA. Honestly, he could get into any one of the schools that he applied to...and he will get into a phenomenal school no matter what. Tell your son not to worry, and to just wait and see what happens. He knows...and you know that he'll end up at a great school after all.

I second Daredelight....

CloudyDay...
Your son has the statistics to land him at many of the schools you have listed. You must NOT become discouraged by this procedure of college applications. I even find myself getting carried away at times and have to actively remind myself what I'm going to tell you:

Even if he DOESN'T get into your top college, is this necessarily bad? Keep in mind a significant portion of CEOs are not Ivy League graduates. You do NOT have to be at a crazy competitive university like Harvard, Princeton, or even a very competitive non-ivy like Duke to be successful. The CEO of Lehman Bros was a Univesity of Colorado graduate (ok, maybe not the best example given their predicament :) ).

Bottom line, ALWAYS keep the larger picture in mind. Why do you want your son to goto an outstanding university? The answer to that question is fairly obvious: you want him to acquire a great education, get a secure job, and live a comfortable life.

The greater picture is getting a secure job and living a comfortable life. Well, in this case, keep in mind: no matter where he goes I'm confident based off of what you wrote that he is bright enough to easily achieve this goal. Tell your son this.

To address your original concern, yes, I believe he has a great chance at acceptance to those universities. But please do NOT forget what I wrote earlier. If your son is losing sleep/weight over this, he's putting FAR more important things at stake (health, both mental and physical). Tell him to remember the larger picture and that he's over-stressing (if I can use that word hahaha). Tell him to forget his applications now that they are done and go do something he greatly enjoys :)

thanks very much. so my son will get in one college in them i will help him not be sad

which college may my son go specifically or is it hard tell?

It is difficult to fairly assess your son's chances at most of these schools because we don't know what he wants to study. For example, to what school at NYU is your son applying? If he is applying to the Stern School of Business, then the competition is harder than if he is applying to one of the other schools at NYU. Regarding the Univ. of Michigan, the Ross School of Business is very competitive, while other schools may be a bit easier.
Of the 14 schools to which your son has applied, several are likely to admit him & all are possible. He should be admitted to UConn, Brandeis, NYU, Emory, Michigan & Rice, in my opinion. All of the others are possible, but highly competitive.
Your son might want to consider taking the math IIC SAT II exam to complement his application & to be eligible for certain engineering, math, science & business programs. MIT is a reach school to consider.
It is interesting to note that all of his standardized test scores decreased on the second sitting. This may be due to the stress that your son is placing on himself. I hope that your son is admitted to Brown because I believe that the environment is less stressful than some of the other super elite schools to which he has applied.
Because your son is applying as an international student, as he is not a US citizen, competition can be & usually is, greater at most elite schools. Your son's stress is not misplaced, but it is non-productive.
What instrument or instruments does your son play & what does he want to study in college?
To reduce stress, it is always best to apply early to one or two rolling admissions schools.
Consider Indiana University for music, business & other majors.

thank ColdWind. My son not apply to Ross or Stern ( he say college will not go him) he is applying to cas (i do not know what is cas) I tell my son same 'do not very worry' but because i was go elite college in my home country my son worry much family pride. thank you very much!

I believe CAS means College of Arts and Sciences. This is the division of a university that students go to when they are not on a preprofessional track such as engineering, nursing, business administration. Even those who want to become doctors or lawyers would be in the CAS.

He is applying as an international student? He does not have a green card? Admission for internationals can sometimes be a little different, but not needing financial aid is helpful.

Is UCONN his safety school? I think the other colleges are possibilities; it is just hard to give you a specific college that is a sure thing. Too many of them have low % of acceptances and are hard to predict. I don't think he will be rejected at all of them.

He did very well on the reading and writing SAT for having been in the US only 5 years. I'm impressed.

Some children do seem to put a lot of pressure on themselves and worry too much. My younger daughter is like that. Keep telling him that things will work out and that you are already proud of him. I think you will have a lot of emotional support work to do between now and April.

Take care of yourself too. The wait is so hard on us parents because we love them so much.

Let us know how the admissions works out for him.

CloudyDay; Forget about college for a minute, and make sure he see's a doctor about why he's eating little and losing weight. To me, test scores are a secondary concern, but it MAY be related to the dropping test scores.

twomules, shrinkrap// thank you, I try my best for my son. I hope he go to University of Connecticut and happy like his sister...but i support it he want.

I'm sorry if I come off as insensitive, but this could be a troll...

If its not, well then congrats to your son. He has a bright future.

thank you sgcary

CloudyDay,
Your S has already asked for chances a couple of times:

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/604252-chance.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/604252-chance.html</a></p>

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/563055-chance-pitiful-child.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/563055-chance-pitiful-child.html</a></p>

Extremely good chance at all of those schools
dont worry at all, brown is the only reach there and his test scores are so good that theres no need to worry

chance me back at <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/635725-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/635725-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html</a></p>
