My Progress Thread - We Will Triumph

How do you have 40 authentic tests? The online course only gives ten how did you get the rest / can i please get a link or something

^ If you google it, the tests are scattered everywhere on the Internet.
I managed to collect many previous administered tests.
Hope this doesn’t violate CC’s rules.

Could you pm the links I’ve only been able to find like 3 and I would love to be able to have more. I’d be willing to give you the tests from the online course

@Teachmehowto1029 You need to go over basic maths before you do anything else. Like geo, algebra 1 and 2. If you haven’t taken that yet, I wouldn’t recommend taking the test. You should take practice tests before you decide anything and decide for yourself if you can handle it. If you get a high score, then go ahead and shoot for the test soph year. Every person is different and although most people don’t take sat’s junior year, you could always take the psat’s. But it’s your decision.

Ok, I took Online Course Test 1 CR today. Not so good.
SC went -1 on each section. How am I supposed to know what does salvo mean… Ah…
For all the three sections, I got -5. 2 wrongs on the first comparative passage in section 2 but went perfect on other passages.
I will review it later. Now it’s time for writing. I will spend couple hours on Erica’s book.

If you guys have any questions about OC test 1, feel free to shoot me a message.

Also, how do you guys prepares examples for the essay? Do you recommend any books?

Alright, so as some of you may know, I’ve been working on my math lately aiming for the 800. Today I did the three math sat sections from the march 2005 qas, only using half of the time given to me each section. I did get one wrong, but that’s because I erroneously wrote that (1+2)^3=9. If I had had the rest of the actual time to check over, I’m certain it would’ve been an easy correction. Not too shabby. For me, it’s all about the practice now; I have to keep doing problems until I don’t make any errors. Hopefully, I’m well on my way to an October math 800.

Disappointing day did well on all cr sections except one in which i got 6 passage errors I think it might be time to stop using the kaplan book and start using the real tests. My split today was 670 Cr 660 writing and 740 math a 2070. I think I’ll study a bit more of the erica M books 44 days left.

I’m a rising junior and I’ve started studying maybe 2 weeks ago.
Right now, I’m at 1900-2050 with CR at 660, Writing at 640, and Math at 670.
I think my problems are that I get tired after section 5-6 and Math makes me nervous even although it is my best subject. For writing, I need to improve my essay and figure out idioms, and for CR, I need to memorize more vocab words.
It annoys me because after 2 weeks of studying, I’m still at a 660 range for each CR, Writing, and Math despite my efforts to do better. However, i think I’m just use to quick results and improvement.
Anyway, my plan is that since I’m a rising junior, i can really just take the test when I’m ready but I’d rather take it early in the year so that coming spring, i can focus on APs.
My plan for studying for the SATs is that every day, I’ll write one essay, memorize 30 new words, and study each section specifically (so one day I’ll focus on CR, the next day on Math, next day on grammar).
I have a tutor too but I think the majority of getting better is probably self-studying. However, my tutor has helped me on difficult problems.
For prep books, I have The Blue Book, PR’s Cracking the SAT 2012, Barron’s 2400, Dr.Chung’s SAT Math, and I’ve borrowed Direct Hits from the library. I think I’m set for Prep books.
My goal is 2350+.

I’ve been doing sat tests for the past month and i’m not going anywhere for math. I did one today, after like a week of no practice and omitted like 4 problems, as i didn’t have time to finish them and i got 4 wrong total of the 3 sections, which is annoying. My test is from the CB’s sat book 2004 edition, and the score range is very vague, which is really really annoying. It says I got something from 620-680 and the past month, that’s the only range i’ve been getting. I just bought PWN the sat math. I’ve been delaying because I didn’t want to waste money, but I hope that this works now that i’ve just bought it.

People posting their progress is great!

If you want post problems you got wrong so the rest of us can attempt it, go ahead. Just make sure you post where the test came from so we don’t see future practice test problems.

I will post this weekend. Busy, busy, busy.

Hi, I’m having some trouble with my scores. I got a 660 on CR, 610 on Math and 620 on Reading. How can I improve? I will be taking it again in either October or November.

How do u guys prepare for writing section ? Do u guys revise the annoying grammer rules i found in barrons again and again or u just attempt the questions with intuition?
I need help real fast , so rply fast
Thanks

Anyone ??10char

Read both of ericas books did a few questions and went over the practice sat i took and discovered i really got a 2090 I also crammed some vocab. It still feels like i achieved very little since I did no sections of the sat. So i presume you guys are mainly incoming seniors so where are you guys looking at for college?

I’m looking at mostly Ivy schools and I don’t think a 31 ACT will cut it… so I have to do well on this SAT.

I am gunning for Amherst ED. I heard the ED pool is extremely competitive, you need at least a 2300; otherwise, adcon may not even bother to look your app.

Took a Math part today, and got a 700. I got nothing wrong on the first section, 1 wrong on the 2nd section, and I got 4 wrong on the short answer part. Those 4 wrong costs you 100 points these days on the new curve.

Right now, I’m looking at low 700’s for math, high 600’s for CR (haven’t practiced in a while though), and low 700’s/high 600’s for Writing (haven’t done essays so not sure of where I’m at)

So right about now, I’m around the 2100 mark, give or take a few 50 points + or -. My goal is a 2300, and I’m a rising junior. I’ve improved from the 1900, 1800’s I was getting back in early June, but my score is still not where I want it to be. I want to get it to a 2200 before October, and if I’m ready for the SAT by spring or summer, I’ll take it then.

IMPORTANT Question: Are there benefits for taking an SAT early in the school year? What I mean by that is, do colleges appreciate someone who does well on an SAT early in the school year rather than someone who does well on a June or May, or even January SAT? Also, what about not taking the SAT in Junior year and only taking it during Senior year?

How do u guys prepare for writing section ? Do u guys revise the annoying grammer rules i found in barrons again and again or u just attempt the questions with intuition?

Keep track of which writing questions you get wrong and then work on the topics you need help with the most.

For the writing I got the ultimate guide to sat grammar. You just really need to go over grammar, it’s everywhere.
