My Progress Thread

I have the book. I don’t think it’s worth the $25 dollars that it’s selling at on Amazon. Ignore all the glowing reviews on Amazon - those are the author’s friends reviewing his book.

But then, there isn’t really any alternative on the market except for Dr. Chung’s … and two horrible books from Gruber’s and PR, and one relatively solid math workbook from Kaplan … so I guess he can charge that much.

I don’t know if anyone’s posted this already, but this website has a lot of good information regarding the essay (strategies, examples, transitions, etc.) and vocabulary:

[Reading and Writing Tips for the SAT and ACT: How to Write the SAT Essay](http://ultimatesatverbal.blogspot.com/p/how-to-write-sat-essay.html)

Honestly I would buy it. Math is my weakest subject as well and it has helped me quite a bit and I am not even all the way through it. $25 is chump change in the end if you plan on going to a private college or even a public one for that matter. Furthermore, his humor makes the book quite entertaining while still focusing on math topics.

The chinese “pool of essay examples” is right here:

Hey guys, I found some more writing questions from the Chinese website. I also have the 2000 word Testmaster list in this link for anyone wanting to memorize them. :)

Here’s the link: [Crate - SAT: Let’s Crate](http://lts.cr/QN8)

@knock, thanks a lot. I really needed that.

Plz help!!

Members of the debate team, determined to hone their skills in argumentation, have been practicing each day and competing on every possible occasion.

is it necessary to change “competing” to “have been competing” to make it parallel with "have been practicing??

@Fat_Nerd, ■■■■■!!

I don’t think it is necessary.

I concur with IceQube. The sentence is parallel as is.

iceqube, good luck on your quest to become MR.2400!

Dear diary:

Today at school I failed a couple of pop quizzes. Ouch. It looks as if my SAT preparation is interfering with my schoolwork. Or maybe I should just manage my time better.

I did cram in some practice after school. I met a few problem that I’d like you guys to meet as well ;). I’ll be posting them shortly!

Thanks - I need all the luck I can get :).

Hard SAT Questions

1) Marie Curie’s more ------- achievements often -------
the contributions of her daughter, Ir

I got:

1)B
2)E
3)C
4)C
5)5.833
6)B
7)D

B

E

C

C

5.83

B

D

^ high five! 2400 club. ;)

I got the same answers as above. (I put 35/6 for 5 since I don’t like decimals…)

I guess my decimal answer has something to do with the way I solve these problems.

700/7 = 100
700/5 = 140

[(5)(140) + (7)(100)]/(140+100)

In retrospect I realize that it’s the same thing as 2(total dist)/(t1+t2). I feel better re-deriving the entire equation each time.

Anyway, that thingy yields a decimal more easily than a simplified fraction.

Thanks for the questions, IceQube. As for me: tomorrow I’m going to continue practicing effective reading.

You guys got them all :D!

Hi, IceQube;

I’m hoping for a 2300 in Jan, due to my diffidence in essay (8, cannot only finish one and a half pages);

I usually miss 3-7 in CR, 0-1 in math, 0-4 in writing MC.

Targeting for a 2400. BTW, good luck on coming Jan test.
