My Progress Thread

Very nice :)!

:p.

Judging by the difficulty of this test’s IDs, I would assume the curve will be something like:
-1 79
-2 76
-3 73
-4 71
…or at least I hope so. Assuming a stellar essay, -1/-2 should curve to 800.

It looks after extrapolating from the writing thread that there were 5 no answers…Jeffery can you corroborate this and then I’ll stop bugging you? :)

Walnut tree/aspirin
Volcano
quinceanera
Teeming
Speed of sound

^ I’ll offer my two cents. I put no error for all of those except the volcano one, which seemed fishy. I’d assume that since the consensus is it’s no error, I’m just wrong.

Yeah sorry to say but that one is definitely no error the speed of sound one is still up for dialectic. I really hope I didn’t miss any improving sentences…

Here is what I’m thinking optimistically
CR 750
M 790
W 800

And not optimistically
CR 700
M 740
W 750

It sounds like you did quite well though!

As I have said, I don’t think I did too well on the writing section. I only had three “No Errors”: Quinceanera, teeming, and speeding.

You shouldn’t ask me. :</p>

I’m glad you did well 000ooo000ooo.

On the other hand, I’m fairly certain that I got -0 on my experimental writing section. Ahh the injustice of the world!

Anyway, if I manage to get 750 Writing, I will be very pleased. I think my essay was exceptional. Either way, looks like I’ll be retaking. Ideal case would be 700/800/750.

God awful dammit.

Critical reading: The bane of my existence. Knew all of the vocabulary definitions. Somehow managed to still get 2 of them wrong. 1-3 more wrong with reading comprehension -_-

Projected Scores
CR 760-790
M 800
W 750-800

And then there is also the chance that something absolutely stupid happened. I better not lose this golden 2300 opportunity.

I know for sure that the (x+y)pi problem had x and y as the diameters of the circles. I deliberately checked the diagram and problem again and again to make sure.

Wow, sounds like most of you did quite well. Congrats.

I’m putting a lot of stock into CC answers but overall I’m pretty happy with how I (allegedly) did.
CR (-0) - 800
Math (-1) - 770-790 (Got that number line one wrong - for some reason I assumed zero was a positive number. And I didn’t get to go back over all my answers, so the -1 is assuming I didn’t make any silly mistakes.)
W (-1, possibly two depending on the speed of sound answer, I said no error) 760-800. This comes down to the essay, which I have no idea about. I filled up both pages fully and used good language and solid reasoning but my examples were pretty odd and this is my first SAT so you just never know.

I’m fairly confident it’ll be over 2300 and, with generous curves, could be quite high. You never know, though, so I’m not exactly celebrating just yet. Is it February 16th yet?

Dear diary:

After pursuing the CC forums, it appears that I missed no SCs, almost no passage-questions, at least 2 math questions, and possibly 1 writing question. I can’t wait to see the results. Now - on to homework for the remainder of my weekend!! I have so much homework :(.

Ruminations about my testing experience: my experience taking the SAT mirrored my experience taking the PSAT - time is WARPED in the testing room.

25 minutes in the testing room went by like 18 minutes at home. Literally. I practiced for the SAT by giving myself 18 minutes instead of 25 minutes at home because on the PSAT I was so close to running out of time on each section.

Cutting 7 minutes resulted in my having no time to check my answers at home. But at least it mirrored my experience in the testing room today. Sure, I might have had 25 minutes, but it only felt like 18 because I had next to no time to check my work.

Taking the SAT - for me - is like being a sniper. I only had one shot for most questions. I had to quickly analyze each question and derive an answer correctly the first time. My marksmanship, as it turns out, still needs polish. No 800 for me, at least in math. For the next test, I will never make the mistake of resting on my laurels. Sure, I may have aced a few practice math sections at home. But did I ace the math sections I took today? The answer is a resounding no.

As far as the writing goes … my essay had a smattering of good vocabulary, but substance wise, I think it was rather “meh.” The grammar was pretty fun. I might have missed one grammar question.

The critical reading sections were also pretty easy. The Essential 300 Words helped in a peripheral way. The passage questions were pretty easy.

Ultimately, several things are clear. One - I need to work on my math. I need to print out my QASs and keep doing each section timed. I should limit myself to 18 minutes at home as well for the 25 minute sections and 15 minutes for the 20 minute sections. I need to be able to knock out a math problem on the first attempt. Today, I got hazed by 1 math problem and haphazard sophistry led to my demise on another problem. Two - I need to step up on my essay. Not getting an 11 or 12 is inexcusable for me. Three - I need to further brush up on vocab and passage-questions, although this is of peripheral importance to me, I believe. Four - I need to further review grammar. Today was a great learning experience and I have every reason to believe that I broke 2200, 2250, and possibly even 2300.

Sincerely,
IceQube

I think I did pretty good considering I had 3 days of prep :P

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC App

Part 2:

Today was a great learning experience and I have every reason to believe that I broke 2200, 2250, and possibly even 2300 :).

But as today shows, there is still work to be done. I might take the SAT again, but then, this may just be the conclusion of what has been a learning ordeal of the greatest proportions. My vocabulary has matured from that of a callow teenager to that of an educated adult. My grammar has similarly matured, for better or worse, as I wince each time someone uses “their” to refer to a singular entity. My critical reading skills have similarly evolved, as I now read more critically than ever. And I would like to think that my math has evolved, but as today showed, it didn’t.

And if I do take the SAT again, this time, I should get a 2400, given that I’ve already taken 3 PSATs and 2 SATs. Maybe third time’s the charm! Or maybe I’ll make the same mistakes that led to my demise this time. Hopefully, it will be the former :).

Now, I relish the prospect of finishing several weeks’ worth of stockpiled and stale homework tomorrow :). Wish me luck guys. Good luck to all. I’m sure you all did wonderfully, and I’m sure that this thread helped you guys :).

Sincerely,
IceQube

@IceQube, Don’t be so down on yourself! You prepared well, and by taking the SAT you have gained some insight on what you need to work on. But, hey man, Get up and rise again! That’s how we roll, *****es!!!

Is it just me, but I’m experiencing this SEVERE inability to concentrate on anything other than the SAT at the moment. I’ve been up for 4 hours and I’ve been starting at my homework but I just can’t will myself to do anything about it!!! Is this normal?

Jeffery I saw your post and it appears that you thought the CR was pretty easy so I am curious as to what you put for these questions.

contented/ambivalent
methodology/reservations/philosophy/positive medium (I don’t know which goes with which)
fun historical fact/ landmark decision in traffic rules
I am pretty positive the analogy one was the recycling one
response to caldwell’s old book/response to caldwells new book

Thanks!

^I’ll have those second those questions(:
Perhaps you can shed light on our debates.

I only recall three of the questions that you posted.

  1. Contented
  2. Historical fact
  3. I chose the one with the person traveling. I don’t remember the exact wording.
    5.

@000
Don’t take my answers as 100% truth, but here is what I put.
1.Contented- Though she had an overbearing landlord, small apartment, and no job, she was in high moral and fine with her situation.
2. I put philosophy but some may differ. I put it because passage one layed down a philosophy of seeing photography in a different way that passage 2 talks about as he matures in his quest for social change
3.Landmark decision, because it was the first time that the government tried to regulate traffic when it came to cars.
4.I put the recycling one too!
5.I said “previous criticism of Caldwell’s book” or the answer choice similar to that.

Yeah the person traveling was a recycling guy. What about the methodology, positive medium, reservations, philosophy one? That is the one I am really worried about. Do you remember what you put Jeffery?

I wish I could help, but I don’t remember that question. I suspect that the transcribed answer choices that people are debating on are quite distorted; from what I remember, none of the answer choices were similar in any way.
