Yeah I think they have been quite distorted. I am done debating. Well, we will find out on the 16! Thank you for all the math/writing help; I really appreciate it.

For the criticisms against Caldwell’s book, I know that’s what I was thinking, but I put something like “previous objections” not criticisms, is it the same thing?? (I really hope so…)

@GoodJobBro

I think your memory is beginning to lose its ground (or mine…)

The question was along the lines of “Which of the following is most similar to the criticisms presented” and then you would answer with “Caldwell’s initial book”

@Jimmy: I’m reaaaaaaaally sure that the question was not phrased that way XDDD
The answer was something like criticism to Caldwell’s previous publication

I said that it would be the expected response to Caldwell’s new book. Although not specifically in the text, isn’t the possibility regarding his pictures, and thus the new book that Caldwell is publishing, not his old one?

@AngelOfSpeed

Ah so it was MY memory that was losing its ground. T-T

magentaturtle, Caldwell’s previous publication was the one that received widespread skepticism and criticism. His new publication, with the help of the photographer, would not idealistically not have these problems.

Maybe you’re losing your memory as well and actually put down his old publication? It said it bluntly in the text too.

Refresh my memory guys. What was the Caldwell passage about? I can’t remember a Caldwell passage …

Oh wait, I think I remember. Caldwell’s book was initially criticized for portraying the South in a negative way …

Caldwell was the author within the Photography passages. He was mentioned in author 1’s passage as an author who received criticism for his literary publications.

Author 1 then wishes to pair her photography with Caldwell’s publications to create a bigger impact.

Hopefully I’m not mixing anything up either :P

Yeah, there you go :)

If I cannot get a 2200 this time, I would have to say farewell to US colleges. Because I will not get any damn aids to pay the astronomical USD 50000 per year.
If I reached the age of college student ten years earlier, when the tuition fee was only USD 10000 per year, then I would not have to go through this.

warsovereign, 10000 dollars, 10 years ago, is like 50000 dollars today. :P

Really? I found some charts on the website by students who studies in the US in 1990s, and the it showed that the tuition fee increased fivefold or fourfold in the decade.

I had Caldwell’s initial stories but I think I overthought it -_-.

march sat leggoooooooooo!

I was going to take the March SAT, but fortunately, I had decided to sign up for the Jan. one. Good decision. I have about 50,000 things due right around Mar. 10 :).

Anyway, I haven’t been doing much SAT practice … and I’m dying for Feb. 16 :D. 9 more days. Here’s a breakdown of my expected scores:

CR:

Missed no SCs. I’m almost certain about this.
Missed at least 1 passage question. I missed the ambivalent/contented one; I’m siding with the “ambivalent” camp.

All in all, I should still net a 800 …

M:

Missed 2. Bye bye 800.

760

W:

Missed at least 1. Essay: crappy examples and at least I filled 2 pages. 800 please please please :D?

Haha dont sweat it dude. I know you wanted a 2400 but those scores are still near perfect and anything above 2100 is negligible. In the end you probably learned alot of things as well and that beats getting a 2400.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure you learned invaluable life lessons. SAT made me realize how significant knowledge is.It also gave me an extra burnishing in self-discipline, especially studying self-discipline.
My performance while practicing gave me insights of my brain’s learning capacity for different types of information (words, numbers, formulas) . I probably learned more words than I did in the last 2 years .Sometimes I’m dumbfounded of myself how much information I’m capable of absorbing.

A few months ago I read in National Geographic that teens’ (i.e people at our age) learning capacity and mental astuteness reaches its peak around 18-19, when all the neurological connections in the brain are further strengthened. Turns out that we’re a lot more intelligent now than we were 3 or 4 years ago.

Thanks guys. I’d be lucky if I survive this week. I have so much work to do, and an angry supervisor to deal with at school … :.

IQ, what examples did you use for your essay? Also I really need to work on my math. What book did you use? Do you have an opinion of PWN the SAT?

His website is helpful :).
