Ok I was put on to the waitlist by LMU...but at least i have a chance right?(Just trying to comfort myself :( )
this is my last school I was waiting for...here are my results:
rejected: Chapman, CSULB,
Waitlisted: Emerson, LMU
accepted:DrexelU

And here are my stats if u guys are wondering, looking at my stats you guys should be able to estimate your results.
SAT 1580(low GPA and SAT makes me think the only thing thats keeping me on the list is my production video...)
GPA 3.4
Plenty ECs including two years student council and 2 years varsity

What should I do if I got waitlisted???I really want to get off the list..

This is part of an article on “College View”: Bargaining—The Wait List

If you were offered space on a school’s wait list, remember there’s a reason we commonly refer to it as purgatory. It’s not necessarily a good place to be, so carefully assessing whether you should take your chance is important. Perhaps moving on is really best, even if it means letting go of your dream school. Regardless, you’ll need to forge ahead, since the most likely outcome of the wait list is not being offered a spot at the school of your dreams. Statistics vary greatly year to year, but the overall prospects are slim.

We were wait listed too.
GPA 3.84, wted GPA 4.5 ACT 28, top 8% of graduating class, National Honor Society, awards for films, Girls State, leadership roles, plenty of EC. I talked to Chapman and they told me flat out to forge ahead. BUT I am still holding out hope :(( [-O<

Private universities, whether Ivy or otherwise, who have holistic admissions are looking for your fit with them. Note it is a Jesuit institution. You are not required to be Catholic, but you may recall the supplemental essays that addressed social justice issues. This is all part of the fit–not just top grades and test scores. Yes, those essays really matter. Bear in mind, too, that if you seek admission at some of the smaller programs (SFTV, Comm/Fine Arts), they accept far fewer applicants than the larger programs (liberal arts, science/engineering, business admin), so even with an overall statistic of 54% admitted, its far lower in the little program and may be for certain popular majors. Some institutions permit appeals if denied, so you can look into this with LMU. Some also would like to see you write a letter if Wait Listed so they know how serious you are. If it’s your top choice and not just a statistic you want to move to your accepted column, you should convey you will accept admission offered it and if the FA (if relevant) makes it affordable. You could also state you are willing to be admitted as a major in one of the larger programs that has room. It is not impossible to transfer into another school/college at LMU once admitted. Not easy, but possible. DS was admitted as sophomore transfer this past fall from Boston College. He was admitted as English major but he wanted SFTV Production. He accepted admission as English major and spent most of first semester beefing up resume to apply to PROD as a transfer. (Already had 4 film classes & lots of experience on film crews.) He was admitted for Spring 2014! PM me if you would like more thoughts.

For those of you rejected/waitlisted: what did your MYLMU screen look like before you clicked “MyPaw” ? Did it still say “Don’t wait until your accepted to apply for financial aid!” etc?

@LADreamin17 Yes the “dont wait until” thing is still under the announcement section, but now whenever I clicked MyPaw or MyAid it brings me to a page that said “If you are [Username], please click the follow”…no access to MyPaw and MyAid now, but yesterday MyPaw was still under review after I found out i was waitlisted via email.

@apamom thank you for the website and advices! Im now considering my alternatives, either drexelU or SBCC. SBCC is not a bad choice actually! Their transferring center is awesome and I would really like to use it to transfer to LMU or Chapman in 2 years!

OMG I literally feel your pain right now!
Im from Boston and I applied to LMU CSULB and Emerson too!
I want to major in PR and Communications

I have a GPA of 3.96/4.5 = 3.5/4.0
I did terrible on my SATs, I got a combined score of 1500

I got waitlisted for Emerson (just like you)
I got accepted to CSULB
And literally just today, I checked MyPaw (they did email me), I got denied from LMU
Im so jealous you at least got waitlisted, LMU is my dream school

I really feel like my SAT scores held me back
Im considering trying to transfer next year or so.

@camillet16 oh my!!!I spotted a comrade haha!U can definitely enroll at CSULB and then transfer to LMU! My plan is to enroll Santa Barbara community college and transfer to LMU or Chapman!
