my roommates..well..suck

It's basically if someone posted on myspace that their interests were "partying" and "*ing", then basically the potential roommate might worry that this roommate will party all the time, stay up late all the time, and * guys in the dorm room, right? She might be concerned if her future roommates try to convert her or criticize her.

You are ill-informed and ill-tempered; thanks for confirming with your last post. The irony here is that you have the least appropriate screenname imaginable.

Ttgiang...you know what. Let's meet in person over coffee. I want to see what kind of person keeps hammering a poor girl on the internet for wanting to live with someone who shares her interests.

Also, thanks for resorting to personal insults. You have brought it to a new low. I somehow doubt you'd be this vocal to me in person, but let's try. I'm serious.

So, basically, if you all had a roomate who wanted to meet Tony Montana and whose interests were getting wasted and sniffing cocaine you'd give him/her a chance?

Wow, and you're terribly illogical as well. It's not "resorting to personal insults," it's pointing out that which has fairly evident throughout this thread in your comments. Save the drama and your long-winded tales about Jesus and roommate for somewhere else. You're advising a student who has not even met her roommate to ditch her on the basis of religion just because you had a bad experience (from the looks of things, there is a distinct possibility that you might be the nightmarish roommate and not the other way around). Show some responsibility and put some thought into your responses.

Those stories are very much appropriate.

More insults. I never tried to "convert" my roommate into liking homosexuals or giving homosexuals a chance. The difference between agnostics and hardcore religious people is this: agnostics don't have anything to convert you to, whereas hardcore religious people do.

Oh, come now, over coffee? Seriously? (I have to stay up to study anyway...)

Oh, and are you hot? It would be a plus to get coffee.

(Yeah, I'm showing "responsibility" now.)

NeedAdvice: just because someone is religious does not automatically mean they will try and "convert" everyone else. Can you say 'stereotyping'??

Yes I can indeedy. Everyone stereotypes once in awhile.

holy ****, the way some of your reply its like i insulted you personally. so my roomies finally replied and TURNS OUT they are super religious AND intolerant. how about that?

one asked me straight out if i was christian or not. to me, that is a great predictor of her tolerance. of course, ttgiang15 will have yet another nonsensical reply to this so there really is no point arguing the subject anymore.

EDIT: listen to needadvice, she seems to know where i'm coming from.

im out, peace.

Erm, where did your roommate indicate her intolerance? Innocently asking your religious preference doesn't seem that bigoted to me. Considering how incensed you are with her religion, I suppose she should be allowed to be opinionated on yours.

needadvice & stanfurd are both the losers on this

the others are probably nice

I guess I just don't understand why you refuse to come into the situation with an open mind, instead of instantly rejecting people before you even know them.

Maybe they are religiously-pushy and intolerant as you think they will be, there is no way of knowing this now, and you are singling and ratting them out as a certain type of person whom you don't know if they really are or not.

And even if they are as you make them out, so what? Part of life is compromise. Talk to them, tell them you don't enjoy them pushing their religion on you (if they are indeed doing that), rather than whining about it on a public forum.

If you reject people this quickly, without taking the time to get to know them, you're gonna have a hard time in college.

"Jesus had wine at the last supper...so unchristian of him...

And it's clear he preferred a nice cool alcoholic beverage over water..."

matt, jesus never got drunk; in fact drunkenness is a sin(Ephesians 5:18)
if you can turn water into wine....

in addition, Jesus IS God

So telling others to not be judgmental and judging those who judge is not hypocritical?

Here you go again! Ad hominem lady. Even if I am super hypocritical, it has nothing to do with you and stanfurd being losers on this. You and stanfurd are the real closeminded people

I went into my freshman year with an open mind and my dorming experience that year was crap because my roommate was my polar opposite. I actually regret not realizing things earlier.

You have it out for me. You first demonstrated your dislike in the other thread, and personally insulted me. I have no idea who you are, nor did I know you in the other thread. Please leave me alone...cheers.

Just because you didn't enjoy living with someone with a differing opinion as your own does not mean that everyone else will/should, NeedAdvice. You should cool your guns, because the advice you give to people like StanfurdRejector could be quite detrimental to their college well-being.

lol Detrimental to their college well-being? The campus is huge; there are many opportunities to make friends. This is her home for the next year. She should be happy...
