my roommates..well..suck

let's not argue who's hypocritical and closed minded. o_O ke. too many posts on cc like this.

hey kid, wait until you get there before calling a switch. give people a chance. you never reallyreallyreally know a person and people change a lot in college.
also, you don't have to be best friends with your roomies, so if you don't click, it's okay. plus it'll be a growing experience.

i don't really see what's wrong with asking the question. it's nice knowing straight off isn't it? lol. and if that's not.. socially acceptable.. well excuse me.

pookdogg before I respond to any of your posts I would like to ask,

have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal lord and savior, and (according to the one drop rule) are you of Arab, Persian, or any other middle eastern decent?

I think I see where this is going, but I'll play along.

Yes, I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal lord and savior, and no, I am not of Arab, Persian, or any other Middle Eastern descent. Fire away.

It was more of a retorical question, but O.K Cool, thanks. Stay with me here.

On top 3 list titled "who you would like to meet", would you put down Jesus Christ as #1?

LOL (10 chars)

No, I would first put down Tiger Woods because I've been having trouble with my short irons lately, especially from sidehill lies. Then I would put down Osama bin Laden and Kim Jong Il, because I believe that there are equal opportunities to get to understand their worldview and try to get them to stop with their preoccupation with killing people.

Why isn't Jesus on the list? Because I know I'm going to be with Him for an eternity if I stop breathing for a long enough time, so why burn a spot on my list for someone who I respect and love more than anyone yet am going to be living with for the rest of time? Why is Jesus on the lists of these girls? Not certain, but I can imagine there being a tinge of gratitude for being nailed to a cross so that we can go to heaven, not to say anything about their evangelistic tendancies. But I digress.

This has to be one of the saddest, most pointless topics I've seen in a long time. To the OP: Sack up and take your roommates. Maybe they might be a little more willing to move on a transfer for you than they were with mine, but if I could suffer through the roommates from Hell, so can you. Sack up and deal. You'll get great coping skills. And there are far WORSE things out there than devout christians. If you establish you are either not interested or ignore them, they get it the first couple of times.

Aw, come on, diversity is the spice of life! You might find that you get along really well with them--- perhaps not as friends, but as roommates. Don't worry about it. Even if they do turn out to "suck" (and I actually haven't met too many people who really, truly suck and have no redeeming qualities whatsoever), you'll meet a lot of other great people at Berkeley. Everyone's telling each other to have an open mind, which is a great goal to reach for, but we all have our reservations. I'm in a triple too, and I'm scared as hell. But it'll be okay :)

Stanfurdrejector, if the end goal of christianity is to meet jesus, and since it seems you admonish people who wish they can meet jesus, can you say that you're really a christian? i know it's not my place to judge, however, it just seems wrong to see a person who would mindlessly contradict his core faith and belief. it's just a thought from the second post you've made.

I can't believe this turned into a 100+ post argument.

"both of my roommates are extremely religious"

dude..don't move in....religious people are CRAZY!

My apologies for expanding a post that should have died after post #1. But when people believe that they can say things like "religious people are CRAZY!" and can badmouth Christian roommates with relative impunity, it just reinforces the belief that anyone can use Christianity as their favorite liberal whipping boy.

I will bet dollars to pesos that if OP was upset over her roommate being black, or gay, or even another religion like Jewish, the same people who are encouraging OP to act negatively towards her roommate would be just as infuriated as I. And that, in a nutshell, is hypocrisy.

Being black, gay, or Jewish is not a choice. Being a bible thumper is.

lol who said those girls were bible thumpers?

if in their, "who I'd like to meet" section of myspace they say, "jesus"..I think it's safe to say they also read the bible or practice the ridiculous teachings of it.

Okay, I guess the first question is: what in the Bible is ridiculous teaching?

lol im not christian and never will be but lol, "the ridiculous teachings" of the bible?!?! are you sure you're referring to the actual bible and not to the right wing nut jobs who pull crap out of their ass and pretend its from the bible? the actual bible is awesome. come on, tallkell!

Chillax everyone!!!!!!!

To each his own :D

"Being black, gay, or Jewish is not a choice. Being a bible thumper is."

being Jewish is a choice...unless you want to get into the cultural aspects. Following the Jewish religion is a choice, though.

read leviticus and get back to me.
