My schedule too much? 18 units

Hey everyone I was about to post this in the "college life" section but I wanted to get an engineering major point of view since I am an engineer major. Well a week ago I was at 15 units but today I decided to add one more GE class because I felt that the two GE classes I had were really easy (ratemyprofessors). So now I am at 18 units with the newly added class, which happens to be another GE class. Does my schedule look horrible? I am a math tutor at the community college I go to. I'll probably be tutoring maybe 5-6 hours a week. I feel overwhelmed when I look at my schedule but I know that Calc3 and Physics are the ones I have to really focus on and study for.

Calculus III (5 units)
Physics - Mechanics of Solids & Fluids (4 units)
Intro to Sociology (3 units, professor is storyteller, barely any hw, few essays)
Business Law (3 units, one day a week, no hw, short tests)
Pyschology <--- just added (3 units, few hw)

looks fine to me. it will get you acclimated to your later years

That seems about on par with what you will go through once you finish the pre-reqs and hit the real engineering courses. The normal courseload at my school is 4 classes, but for engineers, it's 5 classes. Engineering courseloads are usually a bit heavier and borderline 'overload' in the sense that it's already hit the maximum that your tuition will cover without special permission.

You should be fine. 5 classes isn't too much to handle if only 2 of them are math/science.

Quick question, are you also minoring in something else? I don't understand why your also taking Business Law and Psychology for engineering.

^Maybe he's taking those for general education requirements.

Looks pretty easy compared to my schedule

Physics of Electricity and Magnetism (4 credits)
Calc 4 (3 credits) and yes we have Calc 4 because we run on trimesters
Differential Equations (4 credits)
Embedded Systems Software (4 credits)
Linear Circuits: Steady State I (4 credits)

19 credits, max for full time students =</p>

^haha, you're going to die of suicide

"^haha, you're going to die of suicide"

I also have a part time job...bye bye social life.

I'm right there with you Joe

Phy350 Intermediate E&M I
Phy360 Modern Physics
Een307 Signals and System + lab
Chm360 physical chemistry
Chm112 inorganic chem II

TA'ing senior fluid/thermal lab

senior thesis

Ouch that looks painful. Especially all the lab write ups you'll have!

Lucky for me I don't have modern physics until next year... =)

I guess my schedule is the easiest.

Calculus 3 (2 credits)
MATLAB (3 credits)
Engineering Thermo (3 credits)
Statics (3 credits)
Engineering Graphics (1 credit)
Pro/ENGINEER (3 credits)

Part-time job for math department (20 hours/week) grading homework papers and proctoring exams.

In the Spring, I'll have a harder load because Statics is a pre-requisite for a lot of classes.

Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations (4 credits)
Dynamics (3 Credits)
Strength of Materials w/ Design (3 credits)
Product Dissection (3 credits)
Physics: Waves Motion and Quantum Physics (2 credits)
Skiing (1 credit)

Part-time job for math department (6 hours/week) grading homework papers and proctoring exams.
Part-time job for engineering department (12 hours/week) TA'ing for freshman engineering design course.

I had no idea skiing was a course of study. O.o

^My school requires 3 credits of Health & Physical Activity.

"^My school requires 3 credits of Health & Physical Activity."

Most of the people at my school could use that...

Wow thanks guys for the replies I really appreciate it. SirGeorge, no I am not minoring in anything its just for my GE requirements. Now that I have read your schedules I feel like an idiot worrying about my semester. Thanks guys, I feel much better...one word, FOCUS!

ps. Maybe someone should start up a sticky "The official 'My Fall Class Schedule' thread" Its pretty fascinating to see some of our fellow engineering schedules.

That's a good idea elementG.I also go to a community college as well.

Anyway,my schedule is as follows:

Calc 1(5 hour)
General chemistry(5 hour)
Tae kwon do 1(1 hour)
Olympic weightlifting(1 hour)

Also work part time
Mon-fri
7pm-11pm

Fri @ school
9-5pm

Work @ sears on sat and sun for a total of about 15 hours

Lastly,I'm the vice president of the black student union(bsu)

Isn't that a bit redundant?
