bio93 disc Thurs 3-3:50
writing 39b TuThur 9:30-10:50
chem 1A TuThur 11:00-12:20
chem 1A disc Mon 10:00-10:50
math 2A MWF 11-11:50
math 2a disc Tues 2-2:50

any thoughts?
I'm still debating whether I should omit writing 39b until winter quarter, and take a bio seminar instead.. hmm

what is your schedule?

Get writing 39B over with. You want to finish the writing 39B-C series as soon as possible. A lot of people I know put it off and regretted it. If anything I would drop math but I think if you stay on top of everything you will be fine. I only had 12 units my first quarter but it was my worst quarter ahahaha

what would be a good GE to take for first quarter?

or better not take at all?

i mean for bio majors:
Bio 93
Chem 1A
Writing 39B
GE / MATH 2A / NOTHING

asianguy you in the same situation? And probably psych or anthro or something of that nature

junsik

yea same situation, but i am already going to take psyche + anthro in FSSP so idk

hmm for u i think
if u don’t plan to take these in the summer, i would say u research the professors from them and choose one of the two and u’ll be fine b/c i keep hearing that the math can be crazy (via facebook)

I was thinking about the exact same schedule too… because I’m a biomajor. Ugh, do we get to choose our professors?

Yeah you get to choose your professors, provided there’s enough space for the ones you want.

I don’t get it when there are two instructors listed per class, how do we know which one?

If you’re a bio major, you bio class has professors actually. One will teach for half the quarter (5 weeks) and then the other will teach the rest of the quarter. Or they might randomly alternate in between. The point is, you’re going to have both of the professors for the bio class. So when you choose the class, choose the two professors that you feel are the best for you.

I have Chem1A Disc and Lecture with you! Awesome!

What’s “Disc”

disc is discussion… HERE’s my NEW UPDATED TENTATIVE SCHEDLE:

bio93 MWF 4-4:50
bio93 disc Tues 10-10:50
writing 39b TuThur 3:30-4:50
chem 1A TuThur 11:00-12:20
chem 1A disc Mon 10:00-10:50
math 2A MWF 11-11:50
math 2a disc Tues 2-2:50
bio 2A seminar Fri. 9-9:50

Just to clarify on discussions if you don’t know about them: Discussions are basically a class with the TA where you go over things in the lecture. The lecture is pretty fast paced and there are a huge number of students (especially if you’re taking a math or science class) so you might still be confused on some things that the professor went over. In discussion, you can ask the TA for any clarifications on anything that you go over in lecture. Sometimes the TA’s may be bad and they might not be too helpful; if so, you can always just go to your professor’s office hours, where you can ask questions directly to him. Some discussions are mandatory, others aren’t. If you feel that you’re not getting the most out of the discussions, you can just skip them and go to your professor instead.

junsik Haha I have bio discussions, writing, and chem 1a with you :P

haha awesome :]

will having class go through 12:00 mean no lunch? assuming i eat at brandeis commons or that smaller ME one.

Brandywine is open from 11-onward and I think pippin and mesa are open until like 2-3 for lunch.
Personally I had Odowd and Warrior and they were VERY good professors. Probably the best I have had so far, at least in the sciences.

thanks tater!
