My school only provides weighted GPA

My transcript/guidance counselors only provide us with a weighted GPA. For college apps, will I have to calculate myself the UW GPA? Or do I only use the school GPA that is provided, and weighted

Use what the school provides. Colleges will likely recalculate according to their own metric.

Yes, your GC will send the weighted. Some schools will use that and some will recalculate.

Check with your guidance office. My son’s school only provides weighted GPA and said the college will only know unweighted GPA if we tell them. Schools know there’s a great disparity with how high schools report GPA. Your GPA whether weighted or not will be compared to your peers in your high school. Along with your transcripts, the high schools provide a profile to the colleges so that your performance can be compared to that of your fellow students. Also, some universities re-calculate your grades using your percentiles and weight them with their own weighted measures–thus all students from these many different high schools can be equally compared.

Good luck!!
