My school screwed me over and never told me that I was a NA semi until TWO WEEKS AGO!

Are my chances of advancing as a National Achievement finalist seriously screwed due to this?

Backstory: I scored a 212 on the PSAT and my school never notified me of my national achievement semifinalist status. A few weeks ago, I received a curious letter in the mail asking if I still had interest in advancing in the competition as the scholarship application was due on OCTOBER 18TH! First response: "Oh hey, I didn't know that I was a semifinalist". Second Response: "****, can I still advance into the next round?!! (yeah...I realize that 90% of semifinalists advance but I'm not taking my chances).

My counselor reassured me and told me that things were fine. I managed to finish my application (essay and all) though my counselor has YET to finish her portion

So what should I do at this point?Has this happened to any of you? If so, does your story end happily?

Additional detail: I couldn’t finish my application independently since I was never given a username/password for access to the application website.

Yes, the same thing happened to my daughter. I found out on FB that she was a semifinalist. The school had the letter and we only had a few days to submit both sections of the application. Luckily we got it done in time. Good luck to you.

You need to call the Nat’l Merit Corporation and tell them. They will likely still let you submit. Call tomorrow!!!

Just called them and I was told that my application will still be considered for review. Whew!

FINAL UPDATE: Just became a National Achievement finalist!

Congratulations!!!
