Hey guys, I will be a rising senior soon. Well, I have taken all the required classes in my school, and pretty much I don't need to take 8 classes next year. But I know most of the selective school want a busy schedule... My school does not have much AP classes, so if I add up all the classes that I can take next year will be like around 5 or 6...
Here is my schedule for next year
AP Chemistry
AP Physics B
AP US Gov't / Econ
AP Art (I don't even like art)
Cal BC duel credit at a CC
Athletics (Track and cross country)
Any idea on what should I do to improve my schedule? Thanks a lot

No English or foreign language? Why are you taking AP Art (Studio or History?) if you don’t like it?

Take an AP english instead of AP Art and I would recommend replacing one of the AP sciences with a foreign language IF you haven’t gone through level 3 at least. It will be difficult to do both, but you can leave it if you want.

Thanks Skieurope and guineagirl96 ! Um, I am not into languages…Because I speak Mandarin (I can write and speak it but am not that fluent), so this counselor at my school gave my parents some sheet to fill-in, saying that I don’t need to take a foreign language since I can speak and write Chinese. I got “free” credits for that. So far, I never took any foreign language class in whole my high school career. Will that hurt me, though??? Should I take a foreign language class at a CC next year?

I don’t like Art, but it’s an AP class. My school doesn’t offer much, so I guess I need to take as much resources from it as possible.

I am currently taking AP lit and lang, and that’s all my school offers. I like English a lot, I am writing like 3 or 4 novels and ready to publish them as soon as possible. I might take a duel credit class for English then
SO do I HAVE to take 8 classes to show that I’m dedicated to school and such? (Is that what ivies are looking for?) What if I need to work or help students improving their standardized scores???

@DivineE you are fine on foreign language then… you have a native speaker waiver. And you are fine on english too didn’t realize you had taken both already. I would take at least 5 classes at your school + whatever duel credit classes you take. You don’t have to take 8 classes, especially since you are taking a lot of APs
