so heres my schedule for sr year:
english or western lit (both are the hardest lit classes my school offers)
ap essay, or weighted essay if i cant get a rec for ap
french 4, which is honors
ap calc ab
probably not ap bio, but advanced bio which is honors as well
journalism, which i have to take since im on newspaper
american law and problems, just a soc. sci. exploratory that im interested in
us history, not gonna bother with ap....i heard its hell

this is the hardest ive ever had it in high school...lets see, 4 weighted courses both semesters...will colleges i apply to see this and take this into account???

and also, as a side note...if i decide to take one less class (like american law and problems, since its an exploratory) will colleges think of me as a slacker?

my counselor thinks im like this crazy study-aholic and she told me sarcastically that i could get early dismissal instead of taking that american law and problems class....yikes, what to do?

i dont understand this, how could ap american class be horrible, the test is really really easy, and if the class is designed to prepare you for it, how should it be hard, unless you have an incompetent teacher, my school has a really good method, 100 percent pass every year and 60 percent get 4 or above, and honestly not everyone should, but its a really easy test

i agree, ap us history is one of the easier ap tests, but back to answering your question, colleges will factor in your decision to take harder classes (for RD at least) and they WILL see your FIRST semester grades. On the other hand, if you want to go to a tier 2 or state university, you could probably take one less class and still be fine and stress less about it. hope that helps :)

the reason im not taking ap us history is because i had a horrible experience with ap us gov (i suppose u could say that the teacher was incompetent and yammered on the entire classtime about his views and ya dee ya; it was so horrible that i didnt even bother taking the test.) i just feel that with all these other weighted courses, i'll be even more hammered down than usual so i'm just going to use my effort for those classes.

however, how do i calculate my unweighted gpa? do i take out gym and stuff? teach me.

AP US Government is one of the hardest AP tests that exist. My friend has taken 8 tests , getting 7 5s and his only 4 in gov. Only 6.2% got a 5 last year and barely 50% passed.
