I have this problem too. It's why I'm up right now.

There's nothing wrong per-se with your sleep schedule if you happen to be on a 'night-check' kind of daily routine (like mine, where I work from 2 PM to 11:30 PM, and have to get to sleep late if I want any kind of post-work relaxation). If that's not your case and you live a day-time life, then you might want to head to medical.

you're a college student..

Is this something that has always happened to you or did you just have a really weird day (i.e. paper due, exam etc.) that completely threw you off?

I've been like that I havent been able to sleep until like 2-3am and I have to get up at 6and this leads to me crashing for like a 3-4 hour nap when I get home which throws off my entire sleep cycle. I usually get rid of it by staying up all night and all the next day until a normal sleep time (like 10-11pm), but yours may be different because if your getting around 7 hrs of sleep (3-10am) and then crashing for 3 hour naps in the afternoon that is a bit excessive

Usually 2 am would be the absolute latest i would stay up, and i would be dead tired. But i started i started staying up later and later. Now i can be up till 5 am in the morning and not feel tired. I realize most college students probably have late sleep times but for me, unless im laying in my bed and forcing my eyes closed for like 30 min i can probably stay up all day. I just dont want my parents to be *****ing at me to goto sleep at like 12 when i go back home for winter break when i cant. Do you guys recommend like nyquil or something?

How about just going to bed a little earlier? Your 3 hour naps are actually distrupting your ability to fall asleep on a regular schedule. (I remember I used to nap for 2 hours in high school when I was a senior and my mom would come home and find me sleeping and yelled at me to wake up so I wouldn't stay up until 2 AM when I had to get up at 6:30 AM). Try actually setting an alarm for your naps- don't let yourself sleep for more than an hour in the afternoon and by midnight, you should be feeling a little tired to go to bed.

welcome to the club

my sleep schedule is the extreme opposite. when i'm at home or whenever i do not have class or work to attend to the next day, i sleep for most of the day and wake up at night. and i can't wait for this once the finals are over!

Assume that you want to sleep at 12:00. Want to do you until 5 though? If you're study at least that's something productive. But I bet it's games/MSN/ or TV... Turn them off!

Me too...I'm still awake, and it's finals week. I REALLY need to be asleep now. But instead I'm on CC.

Gah.

So what do you guys do to fix this? I can't sleep anymore. I just stay up for hours and hours. Some nights until 7 am. Once I stayed up so late I went to wal-mart, made breakfast for my roommate and then went to sleep around 10 am. I don't know what to do because it has been like this for at least a week. I can't even keep track of the days anymore. For example, today I slept until 4pm, and now, at 5 am I am an insomniac.

:(

Any suggestions?

Try melatonin supplements. :)

Where would i get those?

^At a medical store. :)

i think alot of college students have sleep issues. i have a really hard time falling asleep, like last night, i went to bed at 12:30 and i was pretty tired, but i just ended up lying in bed not being able to sleep, i checked my phone and it was 3am...and i still hadnt fallen asleep yet even though i was really tired.

stop taking naps, if you don't take a nap, you can go to bed earlier.

if you take 3 hours naps, cut it to 2 hours, then 1, then gone

me too... i have that
