My soccer coach hates me?? Help!

Ok so I’m a senior and I’ve played soccer since I was a child, but I have taken a break for two years. I go to a county school that has no sports so I’d have to play at my town’s high school. I wasn’t going to play this year until this one girl in my school who never played b4 asked me to join with her our senior year. I accepted and I went to every conditioning and tournament throughout the summer.

I am not the best soccer player, my technique needs work, but i’m not terrible. I know the game pretty well (i’m a referee btw so i’d have to know everything there is to know haha). So the first days of practice my mom had an emergency and had to get surgery on the hours of my practice. I was late three days in a row bc of that and the coach yelled at me and said I was a bad example. After that she stopped paying attention to me.

Then a week later she told me that I was going to be placed on jv since I wouldn’t get playing time on varsity. I was crushed since I worked so hard all summer. Then the girl who initially joined with me without any experience (she knew the coach well before the season started) got told to join the varsity practices. It made me upset because I know I am a good player and I have experience. Just today I had an instance where the jv coach (who is now my official coach since the varsity one ignores me) got mad because I didn’t see her after practice after I got hurt and was in the trainer’s office. Now they both hate me. Help?

Also, today they gave out schedules with everyone’s name prewritten and they never made one for me. When I asked they said they ran out of varsity ones and wrote my name on the jv schedule.

You want an honest answer? You have two choices: work hard and try to improve their opinions of you, or quit. Only you can decide how important it is to you to continue.

Do you even want to continue? You might not get any time with your friend who twisted your arm to get you back on the soccer field.

I would take out all the craziness and just take some time to reflect on whether you have passion for this game. Is it a burning desire inside you? If not, you can choose to walk away. If you do have a rekindled fire for this sport, then give it all your energy and effort.
