My SSAT scores

We really should have a thread for this or something.

Verbal: 767 (97%)
Math: 776 (97%)
Reading: 734 (97%)
Total: 2277 (98%)

I'm going to retake it though, since I really didn't feel like I did my best. And they gave us practically no space to write the essay! Now that I look back, one of my body paragraphs was really stupid. (My prompt basically asked me, "Which do you prefer, man or dog?"...At first I wondered if I really had the upper level test)

I agree with the no space for essay part. Man or dog? Lol. Mine was do you agree by the phrase "To overcome your fears you must take action." What schools are you planning to apply to?

Choate, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, Andover, Exeter, St Pauls, and maybe Miss Porter's...yeah, it's a lot. :/

Oh. One of my English teachers is a graduate from Ms. Porters ('85) I think. My interviewer for a boarding school program is a graduate from Choate.

I made a thread on this a few weeks ago called "Projected SAT Scores" I think... but whatever.

I'm taking the December 9 test and I'm applying to local prep school called Greenhills School. The website is www.greenhillsschool.org if you'd like to take a look.

lovelyskye,

I'm not sure there would be any practical purpose in retaking the test with that score. I'd spend the extra weekend time on an extracurricular or a longer school visit first. Of course, if you get an essay topic on perfection, maybe you'd be happier. LOL. Relax!

Lovely Skye -- I really doubt that it will make any difference if you go from 98% to 99%. Last year, when my son got a 99%, he was concerned because he was not 99% on all 3 tests. He even thought about taking it over again. I'm glad he didn't. It would not have made any difference. Also, there seems to be some variability in test results from test to test -- so you run the risk of getting a somewhat lower score. You can be proud of getting 98%. Congratulations!

I'm not going to retake it as long as I get above an 80%.

Does anyone else think it's weird that barely anyone on this forum has gotten below a 95%?

This is percentile, correct?

Jonathan1,
Thats because I didnt get my scores yet. lol

It is kind of weird though.

Frankly, No! Every year the students on CC prep threads do quite well. All with the exception of a few are in the 90's. There may be one maybe two in the 80's and maybe one in the 70's. Just my recollection. I hope that all of you get yourself fired up for the applications. For some, you may be finished, for those who have not finshed.......Get fired up so you'll do a fantastic job on them. Just think for some of you you're finished with the interview and ssat and maybe more. I wish you all the best of luck

Lovelyskye, it would probably not be wise to retake the test. A 98th percentile is a GREAT score. I agree about the essay (I took the test in November, but I'm still waiting for my scores), they give you way too little room, and your topic was, to be blatant, ridiculous. But still, it takes so much effort, and you are also handing in a graded essay of your choice, which they probably give equal or greater weight to. Be ecstatic about your score, and enjoy it.

I got -

Math - 90
Reading - 96
Verbal - 98

Total --- 97%

I'm proud of them. :) I improved in math by 5 percent.

I think the reason everyone gets above 95 is because we're the boarding school obsessed who go on this website. ;) It's not that that's the national norm.

Thanks prepparent. :)

Good advice. And morale-boosting. xDD

That's great, Olivia. You've got excellent reason to be proud of them. I wish I had my scores.

Aw, thanks pretty. :) I'm sure you'll do awesome.

Congratulations olivia567!

Thanks, burb. That's nice of you. ^__^

olivia567, Those scores have to make you happy...........Great Job!

Thanks!!

I'm wondering how the total is always higher than the actual average, though. Last year I got 99, 99, 85 and my 'total' was still a 98. If you average my scores this year out, the 'average' is a 94, but my total this year /was/ a 97.

I don't get that. Do they add up the points (I got 2247) and then make it so that like, anyone from 2200 to 2250 gets a 97%?

I received my actual scores now. I got a 2292.
I just realized I messed up my percentiles -
791 Math - 93% (?)
761 Reading - 98%
740 Vocabulary - 86%. <--- This is why I need to retake?
