Might want to add Duke as a reach school and among Boston area schools suggest Holy Cross and Tufts. Might qualify for merit aid at Holy Cross and Tufts is ranked higher than BU.

the stats are pretty good. Yale and Harvard are lotto (actually bit more than lotto - not that many indian kids want to go in that field). rest are decent.

b to the u to the m to the p bump bump bump!

more responses please :)

Your rank is too low for Harvard, Yale, and Brown. Some people have gotten into Harvard and been rejected from Brown. Harvard and Yale take about 10% each, I THINK. Brown takes 16%. Anyway, if you got into any of those schools, I'd be very shocked.

Though your SAT is fabulous, that isn't saying enough. Sorry.

As for BU and JHU, I'd say that you have a very good chance.

G'luck.

b to the u to the m to the p bump bump bump!

You have a good shot. Your rank could hurt you, but your scores will compensate for it. Your EC's and other achievements will be the deciding factor. And being Indian and wanted to go into political science is a good draw. That's what i think anyways.

What's up with the math IIc score? You have to miss a lot to get 710, its like the 70th percentile, but you have a 800 math on SAT I. Do you just suck at precal and trig or what?

ur SAT is ownage and u know that in the end, it all comes down to that. ppl say stuff about rank and grades, but we both know they dont show much. Good job on the SAT.

but for college advice, im surprised u got deferred from Georgetown, Id say ull get in Boston U and J H, Browns a toss up, harvard and yale probably not. Good chance at Gtown RD, but they probably didn't like something about ur app that kept them from taking u in the first place. Good luck bro

go john kerry.
i hope you get in

UPDATE

NEW SAT II SCORES:

Math IIC: 800
Writing: 760
Lit: 740

b to the u to the m to the p bump bump bump

Keep the lovely comments coming!

I agree. H and Y are going to be near impossible, and Brown is a bit of a crapshoot. I'm surprised that you didn't get into Georgetown, but it may be because/if you're not Catholic. Boston U and JHU are pretty matchy. Good luck and stay optimistic!

Hey, SyntheticAngel, don't be so snippy. I got into Stanford with a 720. And I'm one of the only people in my school with an A in AP Calc. Just a weird testing day.

I'm suprised you didn't get in Georgetown. I think you likely will RD. But if it makes you feel better, I had a friend who got deferred there and ended up with full merit at Duke. You're definitely in BU and JHU.

He got deferred from Georgetown because they know that he will most likely end up going to a much better institution.

I am not being snippy, but 710 on math IIc is terrible for someone who got an 800 m on the SAT I. A 710 is missing about 1/4 of the questions. I am not trying to say a 710 is bad, but I am saying for his other scores it is bad. The new score looks a lot better and a lot closer to what it should be. I think you have a very good chance of getting in, especially with the new scores. Good luck.

i think youve got an aight shot man. actually im also an indian dude with 1570 and an 800 math IIC. soooooooo lets hope you get in, cuz that would mean i could too. but of course, everything's a crapshoot. let's just put it this way, if you don't get in, it's nothing really of your fault. when u reach a certain level of academic standing, admissions become a crapshoot, so just cross your fingers and knock on wood man.

Since when was top 10% not good enough for Harvard and Yale? That's ridiculous.
Is your GPA weighted or unweighted? I guess it's not great if it's weighted, but if it's unweighted and your rank is still 28th, you clearly have a really strong class. Good luck. You're in at BU, of course. I'd bet that at least one or two of the others will take you. Did you apply for BU's Trustee Scholarship?

You look like you would have a really good shot at Hopkins. By the way (can't help saying it :D ) go Bush!
