My stomach is turning and I have 8 months

I just started my application today (just the basics) for transferring. Wow...it just seems so short. I hope I say enough. I'll be thinking about those essays for a LONGGGGGGG time.

Best of luck to you!!! What essay are you considering doing?

Well, glad you asked actually, because I wasn't sure I really "got it" when I read the question. But I like choice 1

"Don't play what's there, play what's not there."—Miles Davis (1926–91).

Here's what I'm thinking...after my Calc 3 class and learning from my awesome teacher, I've become anumeric (don't believe in numbers) which actually leads to one being alogical (there is a fundamental problem with "logic" and the way mankind thinks). I could go into the proof that he demonstrated which basically converted me to this way of thinking, and tie that into the "life of the mind" and how mankind is on the verge of completely changing the way we think...of course I'd discuss how Chicago is the only place where I have seen that dedication to the pursuit of knowledge and how it is the only school that could provide me with the foundation to discover the answers.

The way I see the prompt, "playing what's there" could be considered dealing with what we've been taught alone and saying that all answers must fall within this realm of thought, and "playing what's not there" would be looking beyond the teachings of the ancients and exploring the future of knowledge for what it is.

What do yall think?

Either way, I'll probably write all 4 essays (and maybe the last one) and then pick from them. I have 8 months afterall. :)

P.S. Whenever I have finished my rough draft, I would be very happy if someone that was accepted to Chicago would review it. I'll also be reading my essay book that is gathering dust, as well as the thread that contains a lot of essays from Chicago applicants. Sadly, I haven't been able to find Esquared's essay anywhere.

Ah, hopefully the transfer app process is smoother this year.

-Admitted transfer

do you have a link to your stats or anything neverborn? and what do you think of that essay idea...does that fit with the prompt, or am I going in a different direction?

The essays are whatever you want them to be.

I do have a link to my stats. I am the most atypical of what you think when you think admitted to UChi...
