my teacher has just ruined me

hahahahahahahahahahaha

Northstarmom was dead-on when she said you're an "ingrate." Tip one for future students: ONLY ASK FOR RECS FROM TEACHERS THAT LIKE YOU. This means you're positive that they are absolutely smitten with you...or, failing that, at least like you and know you well enough to throw together a decent rec. This means you got an A in their class. It also means you were someone that actively participated in class.

For example, I'm not going to ask my professor of a 350-person class to write me a grad school or internship rec, even if I got an A. I'm going to ask one of my small, seminar-style class professors. Recommendations are far more personal than they are professional (in most cases). So actually knowing the teacher on a level that's greater than occassionally raising your hand to answer a question is a plus.

I'm of the opinion that if you have to give a teacher a resume so they can do your rec it'll probably sound forced and/or canned. A short list to jog their memory is one thing...but a full blown resume should never be needed. At least that's my opinion.

Seems the OP is a drama queen.

Instead of harping on the teacher calling him a back stabber have you taken a good look at your self because apparently he has written based on his experience with you. If he called you gloomy and a grade grubber, what are YOU doing to change that perception? Take it as a learning experience, and as good advice on how you are presenting your self to others
