My teachers personalized the recs with college name!

Hey guys,

I was talking to one of my teachers and she told me that she submitted the rec for Harvard and that she said that she specifically wrote Harvard in it!

What can I do about this?! Neither of us had any idea that she can't do that.

I’m considering starting a new commonapp account, is that possible?

Really, 107 views, but not a single reply? :frowning: this is serious, guys, i need to know if this can be mended. I have yet to send out any application

If the rec letter was sent to Harvard, then no problem. However, I suspect you want the rec letter to be used by other schools. I would ask the teacher to submit an edited version of the one she already uploaded, telling her of your intentions to submit it to other schools.

FWIW, one of my DD’s HS teachers required the specific name of the school he was writing the rec letter for - and he limited the number he would provide to 3. Didn’t know that before asking, but it turned out alright. She asked another teacher in the same subject to write a rec that ended up being useable at all other schools she applied to.

Some teachers are just like that.

MereMom, I didn’t mean that she did it on purpose, she had no idea, and neither did I, that once submitted, the common app evaluation cannot be edited or deleted for an updated submission…

T26E4, how can she submit an edited version? From the common app help center, for the question “I made a mistake on a school form/evaluation”, it says that the only way to fix it is to mail the schools the corrected version. That just seems like a whole lot of hassle.

I think you can save multiple versions of Common App. Maybe post your question on the Common App forum. Questions seem to get quick replies there.
