Heyyy so like most you I am anxiously waiting for Feb 15th..so yesterday I checked my application status online and it said the same stuff it has said for over a month now..fall 2008, application recieved, payment recieved, expect a descision Feb 15. But i checked it again today it says all the same stuff except instead of fall 2008 at the top it says summer B 2008. I didn't apply for summer B! and its like 9 days before descisions and im freaking out. does anyone have any insight as to what this means??

Well, being offered Summer B admission would beat a rejection...... I really have no idea what this means. Maybe the UF applicants on the boards will check and see if anyone else has this... and you can compare notes. I do know that when D was waiting for the FSU news in Nov, she and others discovered that those accepted had tuition deposit bills show up on the fees page. So it could mean something, or it could just be a mistake.

You could call the admissions office and ask. . .

My guess would be that they have decided to admit you but for the summer term, and they are getting the site ready to show that, but then again you should just call them and ask. and if that's the case, mine still shows Fall 2008, so either i got in fall or i'm getting rejected.

please look at my chance forum a couple threads below! lol

NINE DAYS!!! I'M GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK

yeah mine still says fall which could be good or bad. but that's still pretty exciting even if you're admitted summer b instead of fall. just out of curiosity what are your stats?

yea Gurlie, would like to know your stats as well.

? I believe it has said summer B for me for some time now

Mine still says Fall 08, but it does have one change! It looks like they just received my midyear report today. I don't think it arrived soon enough to be considered though.

this is a sign of progress.
(mine still says fall 2008)

My stats.. 4.0 unweighted 4.8 weighted, IB student, but also took some dual enrollment credits, SAT Math and Reading 1390

..so I called them, they were very vague..all they could tell me was that it was a "university descision" and that some students are admitted in the summer rather than the fall despite what they put on their application, which kinda sucks b/c I don't really want to start that early..But on the plus side I talked to my dad who is a Professor at UF and he said a lot of his students wish they started in the summer rather than the fall....w/e if i get in there go my plans to spend the summer traveling...

yeah mines still fall 2008

umm, why would they accept you only for summer? THAT'S SCARY.

With those stats they wouldnt put you in summer

that's what I thought...im so confused..my older sister went to the same high school as me and had the same stats and she got in for fall two years ago.

It seems like there was some kind of communication error so I definitely thing you need to call and clarify that you applied for fall

yeah I agree. I really don't think they would put you for summer, that's crazy.

i think the university has a financial motive to place as many applicants as possible in the summer session. it is my understanding that btight futures does not cover the summer session so this would mean more $$ for the university at a time when they dearly need it.

I never thought of that, but it definitely makes sense as why they are randomly switching my term..

Nycollegedad is right but that doesn't negate that your stats are not even close to that of those that would be switched.

A summer acceptance at any of the state U's in Florida (UF FSU UCF)just means you start summer instead of fall. You have all of the privileges of fall students. You finish summer and go into fall after a break, that's all. Many students even with perfect stat's apply for summer, and want to get their feet wet over the summer. My D knows many students from last year, including the schools val that applied to UF for SUMMER. There is no stigma attached to a summer aceptance. Really. Call to clarify, but if your acceptance letter states that they considered you for fall but are offering a summer start, I would consider that an admit. Period. :).
